Back 4 Blood is the spiritual successor to the Left 4 Dead series because it looks like Valve isn’t in any rush to develop Left 4 Dead 3.

The game will be developed by Turtle Rock Studios, the creators of the original Left 4 Dead game during the time that they were owned by Valve.

To date, the Left 4 Dead series has sold over 12 million copies, making it one of the most popular video game series of all time.

Despite millions of gamers being excited about Back 4 Blood, there is one aspect that fans won’t be happy about, the requirement that all players need to be online to play the game even if playing single player.

Back 4 Blood is designed to be an online multiplayer experience, which will see teams of up to four play together through the campaign. But, it can also be played alone with AI characters as team mates.

However, even when using bots as team mates players will need to have an internet connection on their PC or console.

Turtle Rock Studios revealed this news when asked directly by a fan, stating they are looking into options for offline features in the future, giving the impression they know this news will be controversial with players.

“We’re looking into ways we could support offline for the future but you will need an internet connection to play at launch.”

Back 4 Blood will launch on October 12th 2021 on PC via Steam and Windows Store, Xbox One, Xbox Series XS, PS4, and PS5 as well as being available day one on Xbox Game Pass for both console and PC.
