Alan Wake Remastered Reveal Key Art

Alan Wake became a cult classic in the early 2010s after the game was released on Xbox 360, followed by a PC port in 2012, selling over 3.2 million copies.

Due to a music licensing issue, the game was removed from stores in 2017, but it was reinstated on PC via the Windows Store and later the Epic Games Store, the Xbox version has never been released again.

But, after a recent listing on Rakuten Taiwan, which revealed that Alan Wake Remastered would be coming to PC and consoles next month, it has now been officially confirmed by the lead writer of the game, Sam Lake.

The Rakuten Taiwan listed stated it would be on October 5th, but this wasn’t confirmed by Sam Lake.

“I’m beyond happy to tell you that at the time of writing this, Alan Wake Remastered is nearing its completion. Confirmed, announced, coming up in partnership with Epic Games Publishing. Multiplatform. PC on the Epic Games Store, Xbox, and for the first time ever, PlayStation, this generation and the previous one.

The original game was only available for Xbox 360 and a few years later, PC. We are thrilled about the opportunity to bring the remastered version out for a new generation of platforms. I am excited to hear what you think about Alan Wake.

Alan Wake Remastered is the original experience you fell in love with all those years ago. We did not want to change that. But the visuals all around, including the character model of Alan Wake himself and the cinematics, have been updated and improved with some choice next-generation upgrades.

Alan Wake Remastered will launch this fall. Stay tuned for more information soon”

Sam Lake doesn’t specify which consoles it will be released on, just PlayStation and Xbox, but referring back to the Rakuten listing, the game looks to be coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, as well as on PC via Epic Games Store.

One thing to note is, it also appears that the game will be receiving its own PS5 version, rather than running via backward compatibility.
