Tower of Fantasy: What is Simulacrum?

When you start playing Tower of Fantasy, you will definitely hear the word Simulacrum (plural: Simulacra). The term is heavily tied to the game’s gacha system. However, it hasn’t been clearly defined.

It can be confusing as to what exactly Simulacrum is referring to. So, if you are unsure what this terminology means in Tower of Fantasy, you’ve come to the right place.

Here’s what Simulacrum means.

Simulacrum defined

In Tower of Fantasy, Simulacrum is an AI representation of an individual that has been built into some weapons. These weapons can be acquired mainly from the game’s gacha system.

If you have just started playing the game, acquiring some weapons means acquiring their associated characters. Therefore, the AI representation of the character, their weapon, and Simulacrum are pretty much the same.

Tower of Fantasy is a sci-fi gaming experience, and using this terminology to describe AI representations and incorporating them into its gacha system is only fitting for its genre.

When and how can I get a Simulacrum?

You will be able to get your first Simulacrum (character and weapon) early in the game. Specifically, this takes place after completing the Ecological Station Intruders mission.

After talking to Scrapper, you can pull for a Simulacrum from the gacha or, in this game’s terms, place a Special Order. Doing this should reward you with the SR-tier character Echo and her weapon, Thunderous Halberd.

Moreover, the Simulacra/characters/weapons are ranked in tiers. These are the SR and SSR tiers, with SSR being rarer between the two. There are also R-tier weapons; however, they do not have characters associated with them. Therefore, they can’t be necessarily called Simulacra.

What can I do with my Simulacrum?

The most basic thing you can do with your Simulacra is equipping them. Doing this will allow you to use a particular weapon and play as the character who owns it. This means you can explore Aida as any character you fancy in the game.

To do this, you simply need to go to the Menu in the upper right corner of the screen or press Escape for PC players. You can then go to Simulacra, choose from your available Simulacra, and click “Activate.”

However, if you only want to use the weapon of that character, you can. It is possible for the customized Wanderer and any Simulacrum character to fight enemies while equipping somebody else’s weapon. For example, Samir‘s original weapon is the Dual EM Stars. However, in the image below, she uses Hilda‘s The Terminator.

For you to deal more damage, you don’t only have to level up; you should also upgrade your Simulacrum weapon using materials such as Weapon Batteries.

Tower of Fantasy is available on PC, iOS, and Android. The game is also set to arrive on gaming consoles, but no release date has been given yet.
