If you’ve been exploring Aida’s scenic yet dangerous overworld, you have most likely come across a lot of valuable loots. From dish ingredients to weapon upgrade materials, Tower of Fantasy seems generous towards its free-to-play players, which is a good thing!

You must have also encountered a number of chests. Currently, there are two kinds of chests in the game. These are the supply pod and the password chest.

Between the two, the supply pod seems to be the easier one to access. On the other hand, the password chest, as its name suggests, requires a password in the form of chips.

Moreover, while interacting with a password chest, you can choose whether to “perfect decipher” or “forced decipher.” So, which one should you choose?

Should I “perfect decipher” password chests in Tower of Fantasy?

While the game gives you an option on how you’re going to decipher password chests, it doesn’t seem to differentiate the two, except that choosing “perfect decipher” requires Type I, Type II, or Type III chips.

“Forced decipher,” on the other hand, doesn’t cost you anything except for showing you a “self-destruct” message that isn’t detrimental to you.

Based on these differences, it only seems reasonable to save your chips and just go with “forced decipher.” However, going with “perfect decipher” gives you better rewards, including a significant amount of EXP and upgrade materials such as Weapon Batteries and Matrix Data Packs.

Therefore, the short answer is that you should definitely choose “perfect decipher” whenever you can, and the only time you might want to choose “forced decipher” is when you run out of chips. Currently, the chips are only used for opening password chests, anyway. Moreover, you can get them as you progress in the game.
