Tower of Fantasy 2.0 update: How to prepare for the next patch

Tower of Fantasy 2.0 preparation

With the addition of Frigg in the line of characters, the game will soon announce the Tower of Fantasy 2.0 update. Here are some tips to be ready for the update.

The 2.0 update is not a rumor. This will be launched by fall or by the end of the year. If you are just jumping on the Tower of Fantasy bandwagon, this is the best time to join the fun. With recent characters like Nemesis and Frigg being added to the roster, the player can expect more opportunities to obtain gold and red nucleus in-game and outside the map, as they are the only way to obtain the SSR characters.

Tower of Fantasy is currently the 2nd top-grossing role-playing game in Google Play, beating Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds, Diablo Immortal, and Ragnarok M: Eternal Love. With such a strong fanbase, the game will bring more people in with its latest update.

Even with the vast map with a spread of treasures, resources, and drops, players will soon realize that there are those you will not always have, regardless of your level in-game. If you plan on making it worthwhile, here are some tips to consider in preparation for the 2.0 update.

Passwords, summons and a possible new meta

It is the most scarce and limited resource in the entire game – passwords. The three types of passwords, namely Type I, Type II, and Type III are rare items, with the latter being the rarest of the three. These passwords are needed to open password chests scattered throughout the map of Aida. According to the Tower of Fantasy, there is a difference between opening chests once the 2.0 update is completed. If you open any type I and type II in the Vera region will automatically grant you a gachapon (in-game currency that can be used to obtain matrices, food, and cosmetics).

The same post from the game website mentioned that you might use type III in Asperia as the chests in the Vera region will differ from the world boss chests in the first region. If you plan on using the type III chip on the first region, make sure to use them in the last world bosses. Lucia, Sobek, and Barbarossa have the highest gold and SSR matrices and weapon drop rate in the rarest category.

With Frigg being released on the first of September, there will be a lot of temptation to dry up all your summons in the hopes of getting her. However, suppose you are a free-to-play Wanderer and would like to maximize the possibility of getting the SSR character. In that case, we suggest that you wait until any promotion comes up, like a 50% higher chance of getting the character or anything similar. It would be a waste to use it at the start, and then the game suddenly adds the promotion.

However, according to the website, there will be multiple nerfs to Frigg. There will be comparable differences between the Chinese version to the Global version of the character once it comes out on the first of September. Her skills have always focused on team fights, especially once she summons her domain. However, more players are looking forward to Lin and Ruby as the Chinese players seasoned in the game have posted multiple pieces of information about them being better than other SSR characters.

The same idea will apply to your tokens for duplicates to advance your weapons. As they do not expire, keep them until the 2.0 update.

The 2.0 update also promises a string of new SSR characters to unlock. Currently, Nemesis is dominating the meta as a volt user, but things will likely change once Frigg comes into the picture. The addition of Frigg is less than a month after the introduction of Nemesis. Once the update drops, we can expect new characters to be introduced to the game in batches.

It will be up to the player when summons should best be used. Just remember that if you do not think the character will not help you long-term, patience is better until a better character is unveiled.

Mainstay meta, the artificial island, and the commissary

Even with the addition of more and more characters, there will always be those SSR characters that will continue to be an important part of a team. Regardless if you are raiding a world boss or attempting to complete a Joint Operation, you will always have the same weapons used by the heavy hitters. Nemesis and the Dual EM Stars appear to be the most common pick among them. We suggest looking for a specific element you would like to focus on and then start using the weapons that bear the same element.

According to the post from Tower of Fantasy, there will also be a plan to release the Artificial Island before the official release of the 2.0 update. This will give ample time for players to immerse themselves in the new mini-region while not feeling overwhelmed by the 2.0 update.

The Wanderer can use this island to build different infrastructures that generate items such as matrices, devices, and other materials. The growth rate and efficiency of the artificial island will depend on the facility and the level of the Wanderer.

If you base it on the update done on the Chinese version, after the Vera update, there was also the addition of buyable items and materials in the Support Store. These items would vary from legendary devices or weapon and equipment advancement. However, be advised that multiple items in the Commissary are limited-purchase per week.

Making sure that you continuously farm and save certain items and materials will be necessary to be ahead after a recent update.

Tower of Fantasy is available now on PC, iOS, and Android.
