Pokemon go lure modules

Pokemon Go Lure Modules have been a part of the game launched back in 2018.

With these items allowing players to attract a specific category of Pokemon to a gym or Pokestop in a similar way to an incense, they can give trainers an advantage to catch specific Pokemon in areas where the spawning of Pokemon is sparse.

But what exactly are the individual Pokemon Go Lure Modules, which Pokemon do they attract, and what is the most effective way to use them? Let’s find out!

What are the Pokemon Go Lure Modules?

A Lure Module is a small chip-like item, that can be used to attract Pokemon to trainers when placed at either a Pokestop or a Gym, in a similar way to incense items. An incense, however, can attract any kind of Pokemon to your current location, a Lure Module is designed to attract a specific type of Pokemon to a set location.

There are 5 variants of Lure Modules, each of which has its own specific purpose. Players can choose between the standard Lure Module or one of the particular variations, Magnetic. Rainy, Glacial, and Mossy.

A Standard Lure Module can be purchased from the in-game shop, either individually for 100 coins, or as a bundle of 8 for 680 coins, as well as regularly being included in the box bundles as they rotate within the shop.

These modules attract Pokemon to the gym or Pokestop location for 30 minutes, however, on Community Days or events this time period can be extended from anywhere from 60 minutes to 8 hours. They are not specific to a group of Pokemon and will attract any wild-spawning Pokemon.

Magnetic Lures can be purchased in the in-game shop for 200 coins. A magnetic lure will attract wild Pokémon to the lure location for 30 minutes with electric, steel, and rock-type spawning close by.

Once a Magnetic Lure Module has been activated, the Pokestop will be surrounded by grey metal blocks, levitating upwards, while magnetically attracting the Pokemon.

Another feature of a Magnetic Lure Module is that when players are within close range they can evolve Magneton into Manezone and Nosepass into Probopass.

Whilst in use, a Lure Module will activate green leaves, which swirl around the Pokestop, indicating it is attracting the Bug, Grass, and Poison-type Pokemon.

A Mossy Lure plays a part in the many Eevee Evolutions. If a trainer wishes to evolve Eevee to Leafeon, a Mossy Lure is the only guaranteed way to do this. When next to the activated Poketop, click on the Eevee you wish to evolve, and the usual ” ? ” will change to a silhouette of Leafeon.

Rainy Lure Modules last for 30 minutes, can be purchased in the in-game shop for 200 coins, and are primarily focused on attracting Pokemon that would also be boosted by rainy in-game weather, including water, bug, and electric type Pokemon.

Rainy Lure evolutions will also allow trainers to evolve Sliggoo into Goodra, rather than having to wait for in-game rainy weather.

It’s also worth noting, that trainers can use any of the Pokemon Go Lure Modules left by another trainer, so if you see one close by, it can be a great opportunity to catch or evolve specific Pokemon without having to use your own coins or lures. Happy catching!
