The remakes for the 4th Gen games of the Pokémon series maintained many of the original features of the games while still keeping it updated to the other modern days’ games, and now BDSP will bring the Hall of Origin event (or, at least, something similar) for the first time legitimately, which allows you to get an Arceus.

In the original games, the Azure Flute was required in order to get to the Hall of Origin, but it was never distributed in official events. As a result, Arceus was only obtainable through official events, and there was no legitimate way to get him from the Hall of Origin during the DPPt era.

But now it seems that Gamefreak is trying to redeem themselves, and the Azure Flute is indeed obtainable, but the Hall of Origin is still absent. Here is how you get the flute in the remakes.

How to catch an Arceus legitimately on BDSP

The Azure Flute is not obtained through Mystery Gift or any other similar external events, but by having a save file of Pokémon Legends: Arceus with all of the main story quests completed on your Nintendo Switch. You also need to have entered the Hall of Fame in BDSP. That means having defeated Cynthia and obtained the National Dex.

The update alloying players to obtain the Azure Flute was released a few hours ago, so be sure to update your game before launching it. After completing all of these requirements, go back to your room in Twinleaf Town and you’ll find the Azure Flute inside a Pokéball.

Now fly over to Spear Pillar and play the Azure Flute. Climb the surging stairs and you’ll meet Arceus at the top of the platform. Make sure you save your game if you end up knocking him out accidentally, as you only have one chance of doing it.

Here’s a summary of all you need to do:

  1. Have a save file of Pokémon Legends: Arceus with all of the main story quests completed.
  2. Update your BDSP game with the 1.3.0 version.
  3. Defeat Cynthia and enter the Hall of Fame in BDSP.
  4. Go to your room and obtain the Azure Flute.
  5. Fly to Spear Pillar and catch Arceus.

Also, this Arceus can be shiny, so feel free to reset your game as much as you want if you have the patience. As stated in the official announcement, Darkrai will also be introduced in a future event starting April 1, and is also not shiny-locked.
