Genshin Impact 2.8 Yoimiya Build Updated Guide: Weapons, Artifact Sets, Talents and Constellations

yoimiya build featured

Yoimiya is a 5-star Bow Pyro character in Genshin Impact. She’s the owner of the Nagahonara Fireworks and the heart of Narukami Island’s festivals, lighting them up with both her amazing fireworks and shining personality.

Always bright as a star, kids in Inazuma take a special liking for her as she’s always up to play with them, as shown in her own Story Quest. Events have shown us that even Klee loves her, as both girls have those explosive tendencies.

And this tendency carries over to her gameplay, as she’s one of the best boss killers in the game. In this guide, we’ll give updated suggestions for a Yoimiya build, complete with talent levelling order, constellations, recommended weapons and team compositions.

Yoimiya build Talents

Normal Attack – Firework Flare-UpNormal Attack

Performs up to 5 consecutive shots with a bow.

Charged Attack

Performs a more precise Aimed Shot with increased DMG.
While aiming, flames will accumulate on the arrowhead before being fired off as an attack. Has different effects based on how long the energy has been charged:

·Charge Level 1: Fires off a flaming arrow that deals Pyro DMG.

·Charge Level 2: Generates a maximum of 3 Kindling Arrows based on time spent charging, releasing them as part of this Aimed Shot. Kindling Arrows will home in on nearby opponents, dealing Pyro DMG on hit.

Plunging Attack

Fires off a shower of arrows in mid-air before falling and striking the ground, dealing AoE DMG upon impact.
Elemental Skill – Niwabi Fire-Dance
Yoimiya waves a sparkler and causes a ring of saltpeter to surround her.

Niwabi Enshou

During this time, arrows fired by Yoimiya’s Normal Attack will be Blazing Arrows, and their DMG will be increased and converted to Pyro DMG. During this time, Normal Attack: Firework Flare-Up will not generate Kindling Arrows at Charge Level 2.
Elemental Burst – Ryuukin SaxifrageYoimiya leaps into the air along with her original creation, the Ryuukin Saxifrage, and fires forth blazing rockets bursting with surprises that deal AoE Pyro DMG and mark one of the hit opponents with Aurous Blaze.

Aurous Blaze

All Normal/Charged/Plunging Attacks, Elemental Skills, and Elemental Bursts by any party member other than Yoimiya that hit an opponent marked by Aurous Blaze will trigger an explosion, dealing AoE Pyro DMG.

When an opponent affected by Aurous Blaze is defeated before its duration expires, the effect will pass on to another nearby opponent, who will inherit the remaining duration. One Aurous Blaze explosion can be triggered every 2s. When Yoimiya is down, Aurous Blaze effects created through her skills will be deactivated.
Ascension Talent 1 – Tricks of the Trouble-MakerDuring Niwabi Fire-Dance, shots from Yoimiya’s Normal Attack will increase her Pyro DMG Bonus by 2% on hit. This effect lasts for 3s and can have a maximum of 10 stacks.
Ascension Talent 2 – Summer Night’s DawnUsing Ryuukin Saxifrage causes nearby party members (not including Yoimiya) to gain a 10% ATK increase for 15s. Additionally, a further ATK Bonus will be added on based on the number of Tricks of the Trouble-Maker stacks Yoimiya possesses when using Ryuukin Saxifrage. Each stack increases this ATK Bonus by 1%.
Utility Talent – Blazing MatchWhen Yoimiya crafts Decoration, Ornament, and Landscape-type Furnishings, she has a 100% chance to refund a portion of the materials used.

Her kit suits her as a main DPS role, and this Yoimiya build guide is focused on such a role. Her Skill demands for her to be on the field as she gains a huge single target potential. Her Burst, while it seems less important at first, helps her during the skill’s downtime. Also, take this time for cycling through your supports.

Her charged attack has special proprieties, but they are not as good as Ganyu’s, so the machine gun playstyle is her best choice. A Yoimiya build for her charged attack would be interesting, but not as effective.

A recommended order to level her talents is Normal Attack > Skill >/= Burst. Her skill doesn’t get as much bonus damage for levelling compared to her normals. Her Burst is important, but isn’t necessarily a huge priority after hitting Level 6.

Constellations

ConstellationDescription
1 – Agate RyuukinThe Aurous Blaze created by Ryuukin Saxifrage lasts for an extra 4s.

Additionally, when an opponent affected by Aurous Blaze is defeated within its duration, Yoimiya’s ATK is increased by 20% for 20s.
2 – A Procession of BonfiresWhen Yoimiya’s Pyro DMG scores a CRIT Hit, Yoimiya will gain a 25% Pyro DMG Bonus for 6s.

This effect can be triggered even when Yoimiya is not the active character.
3 – Trickster’s FlareIncreases the Level of Niwabi Fire-Dance by 3.

Maximum upgrade level is 15.
4 – Pyrotechnic ProfessionalWhen Yoimiya’s own Aurous Blaze triggers an explosion, Niwabi Fire-Dance‘s CD is decreased by 1.2s.
5 – A Summer Festival’s EveIncreases the Level of Ryuukin Saxifrage by 3.

Maximum upgrade level is 15.
6 – Naganohara Meteor SwarmDuring Niwabi Fire-Dance, Yoimiya’s Normal Attacks have a 50% chance of firing an extra Blazing Arrow that deals 60% of its original DMG. This DMG is considered Normal Attack DMG.

Similar to most 5-stars, she works fine from C0, and none of her constellations are game-breaking. C2 and C6 are the best ones, and it’s up to you to go for them, they’re expensive like many others, but potentially a huge boon to your Yoimiya build.

Recommended weapons for Yoimiya build

There are a lot of good bows in Genshin, and Yoimiya can make good use of most of them. Here are some of the best options:

NameSub statComments
Thundering Pulse (5*)Critical DMGShe makes great use of everything in this bow, from its passive to all of its stats. BiS for her in practically every situation.
Polar Star (5*)Critical RateChilde’s signature weapon is not bad for her. It forces you into a Charged Attack to get its full passive, but it’s not that much of a problem and it’s worth it.
Skyward Harp (5*)Critical RateThe passive gives Yoimiya a small AoE, and it helps building her as it gives both Critical Rate and Damage.
Rust (4*)Atk %The best 4* weapon for Yoimiya, and at high refine levels it can even out damage some 5* bows. Simple and effective.
Hamayumi (4*)Atk %Good F2P option, but it has some issues when Yoimiya uses Shimenawa, which is one of her preferred artifact sets.

Other options include Amos’ Bow, Prototype Crescent, The Viridescent Hunt and even the 3* bow Slingshot. While their passives are usually not optimal to Yoimiya, the stats are all decent, making them good choices overall – it’s often best to pick what suits your playstyle best and provides the closest stats you can manage rather than go mad chasing absolutely perfect after all, and the same is true for this Yoimiya build.

Artifact Sets guide for Yoimiya build

The best part of building Yoimiya is that her preferred artifact set is found in one of the most resin-efficient domains in the game. Here are the recommended sets for her.

Artifact SetEffectsComments
4x Shimenawa’s Reminiscence– Atk +18%

– When casting an Elemental Skill, if the character has 15 or more Energy, they lose 15 Energy and Normal/Charged/Plunging Attack DMG is increased by 50% for 10s. This effect will not trigger again during that duration.
Perfect for Yoimiya, increasing her single target potential, but make sure you have enough energy to Burst reliably. Obtained in the same domain as the Emblem of Severed Fate set, making it a good option to farm as many characters use this other artifact set.
4x Crimson Witch of Flames– Pyro DMG Bonus +15%

– Increases Overloaded and Burning DMG by 40%. Increases Vaporize and Melt DMG by 15%. Using an Elemental Skill increases the 2-Piece Set Bonus by 50% of its starting value for 10s. Max 3 stacks.
Best choice for reaction-based compositions with Beidou, Fischl, Raiden or similar characters. Less personal damage than Shimenawa, but higher team damage.
4x Echoes of an Offering– Atk +18%

– When Normal Attacks hit opponents, there is a 36% chance that it will trigger Valley Rite, which will increase Normal Attack DMG by 70% of ATK.

This effect will be dispelled 0.05s after a Normal Attack deals DMG.

If a Normal Attack fails to trigger Valley Rite, the odds of it triggering the next time will increase by 20%.

This trigger can occur once every 0.2s.
A newer set that can see some use for Yoimiya. But unfortunately, it depends on even more RNG, thus being not as consistent as the others. Use it only if you have good parts of this set.

Yoimiya build has some flexibility. Other options include any mix of an Atk +18% set and 2-pieces Crimson Witch, or even 2 different Atk +18% sets for pure damage.

Yoimiya build desired stats

  • Circlet: Critical Dmg/Rate
  • Sands: Atk %
  • Goblet: Pyro Dmg %

With her Critical Rate ascension, she’s more forgiving if you had back luck when levelling artifacts. For sub stats, look for Critical Damage and Rate as necessary, Atk % and Elemental Mastery. If using Shimenawa, 130% Energy Recharge is usually enough to get the buff and Burst consistently without considering what supports you might need to work around for your Yoimiya build.

Teams and Synergies

Depending on how you choose to make your Yoimiya build, she can be played with slightly different roles in a team. She will still be the main DPS though. Or, as you may call it, the main Driver for reaction-based teams.

Xingqiu or Yelan (or both at the same time) maximizes her single target and boss killing capacities. Great for higher Abyss Floors, where bosses with huge amounts of HP are occasionally waiting.

Rosaria and Ganyu (with focus on her Burst) can play a similar role, with more AoE damage and team buffs in exchange for the single target damage.

Bennett grants healing, a damage buff and the Pyro resonance for the team. Diona is a good healer too, as she grants shields and some small Melt potential.

Yun Jin is by far the perfect support for any Yoimiya build, boosting her damage output by simply building Defense. Paired with another Geo such as Zhongli, you also get Geo resonance as a boost and some extra survivability. Build her as soon as you can if you have her.

But if you want fireworks, you can have fireworks! Paired with Beidou, Fischl and one flex character (a Swirl character such as Venti or Kazuha, or another buffer as Yun Jin or Bennet), you have the Overload team, best played with a Yoimiya build consisting of 4pc Crimson Witch set.

Its main advantage is its higher AoE damage, which makes up for one of Yoimiya’s weak points. It also makes use of Beidou’s Burst huge scaling. A fun alternative if you want to play something else from the usual meta teams.
