Resident Evil Village is here, after months of waiting fans can finally simp of the Tall Lady, but trust us you won’t simp over her by the end of the game.

Judging by the weekly sales charts, the Resident Evil franchise is as strong as ever as the game has gone to straight to number 1 in the UK charts, knocking off last week’s New Pokemon Snap.

As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, Resident Evil Village is the PS5’s third-biggest launch so far. While sales were down 26% from Resident Evil 2 Remake and 40% down from Resident Evil 7’s opening weekend, the game sold 76% more copies than Resident Evil 3 Remake.

Of course, this only takes physical games into account. Digital sales have skyrocketed over the last year or so due to the current global pandemic. We have found ourselves buying more games digitally and once you get used to the convenience it is hard to justify going out to a store to get a game unless absolutely necessary.

Resident Evil Village has also performed extremely well on Steam, with over 100,000 concurrent players at one point, making it the most concurrently played Resident Evil title on the platform.

Games such as GTA V, FIFA 21, and Black Ops: Cold War are still holding on strong in the charts, as is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which shows the power of online gaming and multiplayer as a whole.
