After creating a new, updated version of the original photo shooting game, Nintendo is going into full nostalgia mode by releasing the original Pokémon Snap for Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo 64 game from 1999 will be available for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members.

The arrival of the game was announced through Nintendo’s social media. Pokémon Snap is centered around catching the original Gen 1 Pokémon not with your Pokéballs, but with your camera. Your goal is to take pictures of every Pokémon you can, with the obvious goal of catching them all.

Pokémon Snap will join other classical games included in Nintendo’s Expansion Pack service, which offers everything the regular Nintendo Switch Online does, plus offering some retro Nintendo 64 games such as Super Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie, Ocarina of Time, and many others.

Your goal is to take photos in order to help Professor Oak, who will judge them depending on their overall quality (defined by angle, position, focus on the Pokémon, etc). The goal is to complete his Pokémon Report with pictures of all existing species on Pokémon Island.

This was the first game for Nintendo 64 which featured 3D models for Pokémons, as it was released a few months before Pokémon Stadium. While it doesn’t focus on battles, it’s still quite a good experience to take cute photos of Pokémon doing cute stuff.

The game has already been re-released for the Nintendo Wii back in 2007, but it wasn’t available for the modern consoles.

A sequel was released last year in New Pokémon Snap. It has the same premise, but with Pokémon from all 8 generations, with some Legendaries included in the list.

Pokémon Snap is being released for Nintendo Switch on June 24, exclusively for members of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.
