Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Leaks: Dunsparce gets an evolution, disappoints fans
Roughly 23 years since its release in Pokémon Gold and Silver, Dunsparce is finally getting an evolution! The Land Snake Pokémon certainly isn’t at the top of anyone’s mind when talking about pocket monsters.
For one, it doesn’t evolve. Second, it’s a purely Normal-Type Pokémon that isn’t”super effective” against any other type. Third and honestly, it doesn’t have the most aesthetically pleasing designs. The list could go on.
However, with the arrival of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, it looks like Dunsparce will get a chance to shine. This can be said at least in terms of stat growth (presumably), as the Pokémon has been leaked to have an evolved form.
Dunsparce’s evolution isn’t the transformation fans expected
The alleged Dunsparce evolution was shared by Pokémon Scarlet and Violet leaker PearlEnthusiast. Unfortunately, this evolution isn’t the glow-up that this unpopular (usage-wise) Pokémon deserves.

According to the image shared by the leaker, the Land Snake Pokémon can now evolve to *dun dun dun* (these are drumrolls, by the way) Dudunsparce! Yup, you read that right; it looks like you can now evolve your Dunsparce into Dudunsparce in the upcoming Pokémon game.
While the front image of Dudunsparce doesn’t seem to have any difference from its former form, another image that slightly captured the Pokémon’s body shows what it is. True to its name, the additional “du-” in Dudunsparce means an additional segment or part of the serpentine Pokémon’s body. This means one more set of tiny wings.
It’s true that Dunsparce is the Land Snake Pokémon, according to the Pokédex. Still, it looks every bit like a Bug-Type Pokémon, and anyone would naturally expect it to evolve into something beautiful like Butterfree. Another possible glow-up kind of evolution that any Pokémon fan could think of is from the practically useless Magikarp to the mighty Gyarados.

With this leak, fans mentioned how lazy this evolution concept is, with one user commenting how the developers simply made the Pokémon bigger and said done. Another user was then quick to quip, “dun.”
In the end, the fate of the Land Snake Pokémon is at the tip of the developers’ fingers, and it looks like they have decided to make a joke out of it.
Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are role-playing video games (RPGs) developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company for the Nintendo Switch. It is set to be released on November 18, 2022.
