Pokemon Legends Arceus is doing a lot of things differently – for one, it’s changing some of the core gameplay mechanics and opening up the world of Pokemon in a new and exciting way that has to be attributed to the success of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. One thing it isn’t changing, though, is the fact that you’re going to be able to pick a Starter Pokemon before venturing out into the world of Pokemon Legends Arceus and the Hisuian Region.

If you’re wondering who you can choose from, we have everything you need to know about these familiar faces below.

Pokemon Legends Arceus Starter Pokemon – Who’s included?

In Pokemon Legends Arceus, you’re tasked with compiling the region’s first Pokedex and this is reflected in the Starter Pokemon you can choose from.

Unlike previous Pokemon games, which have you choose from three Pokemon native to the region the game is set in, Pokemon Arceus Legends is throwing three Pokemon from other regions at us for a unique experience and a tough choice!

Rowlet, Oshawott, and Cyndaquil are the three Starter Pokemon you can choose from at the start of Pokemon Legends Arceus. It feels like a “Best of Class” selection because we’re not sure who we’d choose!

Rowlet is an Alolan Region Grass-Flying Type Grass Quill Pokemon (even though it looks a lot like an Owl!), Oshawott is an Unova Region Water Type Sea Otter Pokemon, and Cydaquil is a Fire-Type from the Johto Region. We’re pretty sure Cyndaquil is an anteater, but it’s classified as a Fire-Mouse Pokemon in the Pokedex.

Pokemon Legends Arceus is coming to the Nintendo Switch on January 28th, 2022.
