Last Updated on: 27th July 2021, 02:38 pm
Pokemon Go has plenty of different items that don’t outright state their purposes, you might have even already come across some of these yourself – and to help understand them, in this article we’ll be talking about the Upgrade item.
Pokemon Go – Upgrade
Upgrades in Pokemon Go are simple items with only a single purpose, they exist purely to evolve a specific Pokemon

Porygon is the Pokemon you’ll use an upgrade on to evolve, for those of you who didn’t guess this immediately due to the nature of the item.
Porygon is a bit of a weird Pokemon but it does have its fans, so for those of you who are Porygon Enthusiasts, make sure to keep a hold on those Upgrade items you stumble across so that you can evolve Porygon into Porygon2, shown below.

How do I get an Upgrade?
For those players who don’t have an Upgrade (or several of them) already, you can find more of them by spinning Pokestops at random, though the chance is quite small.
That said, you should be spinning plenty of Pokestops as part of simply playing the game, so you’ll likely stumble on to a few of these sooner or later.
If your luck just isn’t giving you the item you want specifically, you can check your research tasks – special research sometimes gives fixed evolution items. Otherwise, try opening gifts if you can.
There are very few fixed ways to get Evolution items in the game – check your available research rewards and simply keep trying is the best advice I can give if you can’t find one so far.
That’s about everything there is to know about the Upgrade item in Pokemon Go.
