Pokemon Go: What is a Kings Rock used for?

Pokemon Go has plenty of different items that don’t outright state their purposes, you might have even already come across some of these yourself – and to help understand them, in this article we’ll be talking about the Kings Rock item.

Kings rock is a simple item with a simple purpose, its used to evolve a select few Pokemon – two, to be precise.

What does it do?

As mentioned above, Kings Rock is an evolution item used in two seperate evolutions in Pokemon Go.

If you’re a fan of either of Politoed or Slowking, you’ll want to hang on these items – because you’ll be needing one for each Slowking or Politoed you want in Pokemon Go.

You’ll still need candy to evolve either of them into this form, but you’ll need that candy alongside the Kings Rock – without the item, you’ll only be able to do their standard evolutions instead.

How do I get a Kings Rock?

For those players who don’t have a Kings Rock (or several of them) already, you can find more of them by spinning Pokestops at random, though the chance is quite small.

That said, you should be spinning plenty of Pokestops as part of simply playing the game, so you’ll likely stumble on to a few of these sooner or later.

If your luck just isn’t giving you the item you want specifically, you can check your research tasks – special research sometimes gives fixed evolution items. Otherwise, try opening gifts if you can.

There are very few fixed ways to get Evolution items in the game – check your available research rewards and simply keep trying is the best advice I can give if you can’t find one so far.
