Pokemon Go: The Kanto Tour Is Finally Upon Us
Here we are, the Pokemon Go Kanto Tour event is upon us, beginning Saturday, February 20th at 9am local time. We have known about this tour since December, with players being able to buy their pass months ahead of time.
But what makes this event so special?
The Kanto Tour is the first event of its kind to feature all 151 Pokemon from the Kanto region, meaning if you haven’t been able to get your hands on the regional specific Pokemon such as Mr. Mime, now is your chance.
The ticket gives the holder the chance to select between red or green. Each ticket brings with it the chance to catch certain shiny Pokemon, dependant on the colour you choose. And if you’re anything like me, you can spend a very long time trying to decide which shiny Pokemon, and their evolution, you hope to catch for your collection. Choose wisely!
The red ticket brings with it increased spawn rates for shiny Ekans, Oddish, Mankey, Growlithe, Scyther, Nidoran – female, Diglett (who doesn’t want a shiny Diglett)? Ponyta, Shellder, Drowzee, Hitmonlee, Lickitung and Kabuto.

The green ticket brings with it the increased spawn rates for Sandshrew, Nidoran – male, Vulpix, Meowth, Psyduck (a blue Psyduck is pretty special), Bellsprout, Geodude, Exeggcute, Hitmonchan, Koffing, Tangela, Horsea, Magmar, Pinsir and Omanyte.
So, now we know which Pokemon have the increased spawn rate, its time to make your selection in game. Once you do so, you’ll instantly be rewarded with a very special medal for your medal collection too.
And there’s more!
Every ticket holder unlocks a set of challenges for the tour, regardless of your level. If you’re a player already at level 40, it then unlocks another series of challenges, which may take a little longer to complete, with its own rewards. But don’t worry if you’re not there yet, the challenges are available once the tour ends, so you’ll still have access to these at a later date.
It really is the ticket that keeps on giving.
Remember – you can only choose once, so pick wisely. Red or green? Which way will you go? Either way, you’ll ‘catch em all’, from the Kanto region anyway.
