Its raid time again! Raid hour is a weekly event, and for those of you new to this, it means the game is going to be flooded with whatever the tier 5 raid of the week is for the next hour.

The raid hour itself will be starting at 6:00 PM local time today, and ending one hour later, at 7:00 PM.

And at the moment, the tier 5 raid this week is Incarnate Forme Tornadus, meaning he’ll be the focus of this raid hour.

How does Shiny Tornadus look?

The shiny doesn’t have huge differences from the normal version, although admittedly the purple and green combo of the normal one doesn’t look particularly great, so the shiny is still a welcome improvement.

With that said, there is another benefit to encountering a shiny that we’ll cover later on, so stick with us for now even if you don’t like the colour scheme more than the original.

What is Tornadus’ Weakness?

Tornadus is a pure flying type, so it’ll have the weaknesses and resistances of flying types.

Weaknesses:

Tornadus will take 160% damage from any of the following types.

  • Electric
  • Ice
  • Rock

This means it might be time to crack out that Mega Ampharos that’s been chilling in the mega-raids lately. If you’ve picked up an Articuno or Zapdos from the previous event as well, they may help out quite a lot here.

And if you don’t have quite that level of firepower, both ice-type moves and electric-type moves can be provided by the Eeveelutions Jolteon and Glaceon.

And if you’re short on any of those, there are plenty of rock-type Pokemon currently floating around thanks to the Searching for Legends event, so you might want to use some of the things you’ve been catching recently!

How to capture Shiny Tornadus?

The main detail is finding one – this is why raid hours are useful, there will be lots of these raids starting in rapid succession.

And why is that useful, you may wonder? Well, the odds of a Pokemon in a legendary raid being shiny is around approximately 20 to 1.

This means you’ll probably need to do the same raid a few times to get the shiny unless you get quite lucky quite fast.

The good news, however, is if you do find the shiny in your raid and defeat it, its capture is certain – Shiny raid legendaries have 100% catch rate and therefore you should never fail to capture them upon encountering them.

Best of luck on your hunt to catch Shiny Tornadus in Pokemon Go, trainers!
