Pokemon Go: How to get the newly-released Tynamo

Tynamo, the Elefish Pokemon (Pokemon Go)

Tynamo, the Elefish Pokemon, has been newly added to Pokemon Go as of the recent Charge Up! event.

But how exactly do you get Tynamo in Pokemon Go? Luckily that’s what we’re here to help with.

What is Tynamo?

Tynamo is a pure electric type Pokemon, resembling a small white fish. It evolves into Eelektrik, and then Eelektross, who you may be more familiar with. Both evolutions are also pure electric type Pokemon.

While I’m not the biggest fan of this Pokemon family, it does seem to be a nice expansion to the Electric-type roster, – a type I personally had mostly been using evolved Eevee’s to cover for in battles.

All three of these new Pokemon were added during the Charge Up event – our coverage of which is linked below – alongside Therian Forme Thundurus and Mega Manectric.

How do I obtain Tynamo?

A few methods are already available to capture your first Tynamo in Pokemon Go.

First of all, Tynamo is available in the wild and in theory should be relatively common, though naturally, this won’t do you much good if none spawn near you by pure bad luck.

Next up, Tynamo is available as a tier one raid boss with 2834 battle CP, making it an easily solo-able boss if you have one or two counter Pokemon and a raid pass to use.

It is worth noting also, that a raid captured Tynamo will have better average stats than a wild-caught one, so if you’re the type to catch one and be done for the Pokedex, grab one from raids for the chance at better stats.

The CP from a raid captured Tynamo will at maximum be 463, though with a weather boosted raid you may reach up to 579 CP.

If you aren’t a fan of raids, or those simply aren’t an option for you either and there are no wild Tynamo nearby, you do luckily have other options too.

Trainers can use the Charge up! event timed research to get a fixed Tynamo encounter at the end of the first step, and at the end of the final step, giving them at least two Tynamo if they finish the event.

Like raided Tynamo, these will have a minimum level of stats due to being from event research.

If you still find yourself in need of more options, Tynamo is also available from 5KM eggs gained during the event itself and the capture 25-total electric-type Pokemon research, also as part of the event.

Is there anything else to it?

Nope, that’s really it. Tynamo is only a little fish Pokemon, but it is also the start of an evolutionary family of potentially much more useful Pokemon in battle terms.

It seems like we have plenty of methods to capture a few of them during the event and afterwards, so don’t worry too much.

Hopefully this helped answer any questions you had on how you can get yourself a Tynamo in Pokemon Go.

Best of luck on filling your Pokedex, Trainers.
