Pokemon Go is introducing Friendship day, an all new event themed around enjoying the game with your friends while getting various bonuses.

The first friendship day (this one) is focusing on Grass-type Pokemon, giving them increased wild spawns. If that’s not interesting to you, perhaps the collection challenge with big EXP rewards will be.

When is the Friendship day event?

The event will take place on the 24th of April at 11:00 AM and run until only 2:00 PM – both local times, as usual.

This event is looking pretty short, so it may be designed to be quite the challenge to finish the collection in time and claim that experience.

What are the features of the event?

This event has a number of minor changes alongside the Wild Pokemon spawn adjustments, so I’ll address the miscellaneous pieces first as some of them are quite nice.

Small changes:

There is also a handful of very specific nice, but minor changes for the event listed here below

  • Trade distance increased to 40KM
  • Catch experience tripled
  • Green Confetti will appear as a visual effect on the map to celebrate grass types
  • Incense will last for three hours if used during the event
  • Lure modules will last for three hours is used during the event

*This lucky chance is said to be active until 5:00 PM local time, which makes it twice as long as the actual event.

Friendship day challenges

The event is also expected to include a collection challenge, similar to those we’ve seen previously during region themed events where a set of around 9 Pokemon from a specific area were required to be captured within a time limit.

Friendship day is actually expected to feature both the above mentioned collection challenge and a glocal challenge – with hourly challenge tasks that award 20,000 XP each.

The collection challenge itself is expected to award 100,000 XP upon completion as well, meaning the event is worth somewhere in the region of 160,000 XP if you manage to complete each hourly challenge and the collection – not a small amount by any means.

Is there anything else?

Nope, that’s about everything for the upcoming Friendship day event. Make sure to keep an eye out on the Click for further Pokemon Go news, and best of luck with those challenges Trainers!
