Ice Beam is one of the best teachable moves in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl – so, it’s worth knowing how to get your hands on it. We have everything you need to know about acquiring the Ice Beam TM in the new Pokemon games and what it actually does.

How to get Ice Beam TM

First things first, you’re going to need to have both HM Strength and HM Defog available to use from your Pokemon party. You can get both of these throughout your playthrough and they’re not hard to stumble upon, but if you don’t have both of these HMs available, you won’t be able to get to the Ice Beam TM.

If you do have both of these available, you just need to follow these steps:

  • Head to Route 211, out of the west exit of Celestic Town;
  • On Route 211, head towards Mt Coronet and continue until you’re required to use HM Strenght to overcome some obstacles on a path headed northwards;
  • Follow this path to a set of stairs and continue down them;
  • You will need to use HM Defog to clear your view as you continue north along this route;
  • After you’ve headed up a set of stairs, follow Route 216 west until you hit a location that should allow you to Rock Climb;
  • From here, climg the wall and head east until you hit the third item – this is going to be TM13, Ice Beam.

It’s worth noting that you’re only going to be able to Rock Climb after getting the sixth Gym Leader in the Sinnoh Region – Byron in Canalave City. So… You won’t need to worry about picking up Ice Beam TM until you’re staring the Elite Four in the face.
