Pokemon BDSP: How to get your Pokemon to follow you

The world of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl, the Sinnoh Region, is a world worth exploring with a friend. If you want to get one of your Pokemon to follow you in-game, we have everything you need to know. There are a few steps, but it’s worth the time it takes to unlock this awesome feature.
How to get your Pokemon to follow you in-game
If you want to get your Pokemon to follow you around in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond or Pokemon Shining Pearl, you’re going to need to unlock the Walking Pokemon feature in-game.
First, you need to head to Amity Square in Hearthome City – you can only access this location after you’ve beaten the first two Gym leaders and unlocked the Grand Underground and the Bike feature. So… It isn’t going to be an instant unlock, annoyingly. Amity Square can be found above the Gym in Hearthhome City, in the northern areas of the location.

Once you’re here, you’ll be able to enter Amity Square and go for a stroll with your Starter Pokemon – Piplup, Chimchar, or Turtwig (or their evolutions, of course).
After you’ve had a little stroll, leave and talk to the receptionist. They should mention that all Pokemon enjoy a bit of fresh air once in a while and you should then be able to select any member of your party and get whichever Pokemon you want to follow you.
All you need to do this in-game is to follow these steps:
- Open the Pokemon Menu – X Button
- Select the Pokemon you want to get to follow you – A Button
- Hit the “Walk yogether” option
This Pokemon doesn’t need to be in your first slot either and you can swap them in and out as much as you’d like. You can also interact with them if they have an exclamation mark above their heads! It isn’t going to be much, but they might have a hidden item to show you.
