When you’re starting up a game of Pokemon, you’re forced into a few permanent decisions. You need to pick a name, a gender, your rival’s name… There are a few choices to make that stick with you throughout your journey through the Sinnoh region. If you’ve made a wrong call or you just fancy changing things up, you might want to know how you can delete your Save Game data from your Nintendo Switch for Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl. Here’s what you need to know.

How to delete your Save Game data on your Nintendo Switch

With the Nintendo Switch being a bit more of a modern console than your standard GBA or Nintendo DS, there’s actually a very simple way to delete all your Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl Save Game data. All you need to do is follow these steps…

  • Open your Nintendo Switch’s Home menu and make sure your Pokemon Brilliant Diamond or Pokemon Shining Pearl software is closed;
    • You can do this by hitting X on it and selecting Close Software.
  • From here, open the System Settings by hitting the “cog” at the bottom of the screen;
  • Then, scroll down until you reach the “Data Management” tab;
    • It’s worth noting, this will work for more than just Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl, so it’s a good thing to keep in mind for other Switch games – like Animal Crossing!
  • Here, select the “Delete Save Data” option;
    • If you haven’t closed your software, you’ll be prompted to here anyway.

It’s worth noting that while you can’t have multiple saves on one Switch User Profile, you can have one per Switch User Profile. So, don’t worry if you’re using a console that’s got more than one user. You can all play Pokemon and have your own Save Game data without the need to delete and replace anything.
