The Sinnoh region has never looked better, but there’s still a lot about this Pokemon experience that will feel familiar to those of you who have played the Generation 4 games before. There are eight Gym Leaders to battle in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and we have everything you need to know about all of them – where they are, what Pokemon you’re going to have to tackle them with, and what you should be using.

Complete Gym Leaders Guide – Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Gym Leader One – Roark

  • Location: Oreburgh City
  • Pokemon List: Geodude (Lvl 12), Onix (Lvl 12), Cranidos (Lvl 14)

Roark’s Pokemon are going to be weaker against Fighting Type, Ground Type, Water Type, and Grass Type Pokemon.

Gym Leader Two – Gardenia

  • Location: Eterna City
  • Pokemon List: Cherubi (Lvl 19), Turtwig (Lvl 19), Roserade (Lvl 22)

Gardenia’s Pokemon are going to be weaker against Flying Type, Fire Type, and Poison Type Pokemon.

Gym Leader Three – Maylene

  • Location: Veilstone City
  • Pokemon List: Meditie (Lvl 27), Machoke (Lvl 27), Lucario (Lvl 30)

Maylene’s Pokemon are going to be weaker against Flying Type, Poison Type, Bug Type, and Fairy Type Pokemon.

Gym Leader Four – Crasher Wake

  • Location: Pastoria City
  • Pokemon List: Gyrados (Lvl 27), Quagsire (Lvl 27), Floatzel (Lvl 30)

Crasher Wake’s Pokemon are going to be weaker against Grass Type, Dragon Type, and Electric Type Pokemon.

Gym Leader Five – Fantina

  • Location: Hearthome City
  • Pokemon List: Drifblim (Lvl 32), Gengar (Lvl 34), Mismagius (Lvl 36)

Fantina’s Pokemon are going to be weaker against Normal Type and Dark Type Pokemon.

Gym Leader Six – Byron

  • Location: Canalave City
  • Pokemon List: Bronzor (Lvl 36), Steelix (Lvl 35), Bastiodon (Lvl 39)]

Byron’s Pokemon are going to be weaker against Fire Type, Water Type, Ground Type, and Electric Type.

Gym Leader Seven – Candice

  • Location: Snowpoint City
  • Pokemon List: Snover (Lvl 38), Sneasel (Lvl 38), Medicham (Lvl 40), Abomasnow (Lvl 42)

Candice’s Pokemon are going to be weaker against Steel Type, Fire Type, Water Type, Fighting Type, and Rock Type Pokemon.

Gym Leader Eight – Volkner

  • Location: Sunyshore City
  • Pokemon List: Raichu (Lvl 46), Ambipom (Lvl 47), Octillery (Lvl 47), Luxray (Lvl 49)

Volkner’s Pokemon are going to be weaker against Ground Type, Grass Type, and Dragon Type Pokemon.

The introduction of EXP Share features has left this set of Gym Leaders an easier experience than they used to be. However, you can re-visit them once you’ve beaten the Elite Four and acquired a National Dex for a tougher challenge.
