Arkane Lyon’s Deathloop has taken the world by storm and it’s easily on track to be a genuine contender for Game of the Year (GOTY). It’s sleek, stylish, funny, and fantastic. It rarely puts a foot wrong and when it does, you can just kill yourself and start over!* The question on everyone’s lips, though – well, a few of your lips – is when does Deathloop release on Xbox consoles? Here’s what we know.

*This is a joke – the game is about time loops. Don’t actually kill yourself if there’s something you don’t like with Deathloop.

When does Deathloop release on Xbox consoles?

Deathloop was released on PS5 consoles and PC on September 14th – however, Xbox Series X|S wasn’t mentioned at all. What gives! It isn’t from a developer that’s traditional “PlayStation Exclusive” and there’s a PC version, too.

Interestingly enough, despite the deal between Microsoft and Bethesda’s studios, Deathloop is going to be a timed console exclusive. This means it isn’t going to be available on Xbox for at least a year after its release on PS5!

That means we’re waiting until at least September 14th, 2022, before Deathloop hits the Xbox store. Most Deathloop trailers and announcements have said some variation of this. It’s a bit unusual, but we’re guessing Arkane Lyon didn’t know about the Microsoft deal when they made this deal with PlayStation and Sony.

With this in mind, though, we might even see Deathloop added to Xbox Game Pass when it joins the console’s library. Xbox Game Pass is getting every first-party Xbox game Day One for the foreseeable future and Deathloop is technically one of those titles, now, following the deal between Microsft and Bethesda. We say “deal”, we mean “ownership”.

We won’t know for a while – either way – whether Deathloop is coming to Xbox consoles. However, we don’t see why Xbox would wait any longer than completely necessary to get Deathloop out there given the praise it has already recieved on PC and PS5.
