Steam has literal thousands, tens of thousands of games, but which game has had the highest ever player count recorded on the platform?

What Steam game has the highest all time single moment player count?

So, first of all I’ll clarify what we’re talking about here. This isn’t what game has the most players ever on Steam over time, or something to that effect. We are talking about the single highest all-time spike of players at a given moment, so if say, The Witcher 3 had reached 200k and never gone higher, 200k would be their highest all-time player count.

So, who has the highest of these spikes on Steam, you might wonder?

The answer, and winner of that contest, is PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS. And how high was that player count on Steam, you might wonder, to qualify as the highest of all time?

PUBG achieved an all-time Steam high of 3,236,027 players at the same time, back in January 2018, and it’s likely to stay in first place here for quite a while unless a very huge game crops up soon, as the closest runner up is currently CS:GO with only 1,305,714 players – which is still a huge number, but pales in comparison to the highest player count achieved by PUBG on steam.

A lead of almost 2 million is honestly much, much higher than I was expecting before I looked into this – did that surprise you as well, or did you know it’d be pretty crazy going into it?
