Rocket League Sideswipe

So it looks like Rocket League is making its way onto mobile devices in the form of Rocket League Sideswipe. Let’s talk about it.

According to Rocket League developer Psyonix:

“We’re happy to announce Rocket League Sideswipe, a new, standalone Rocket League experience built from the ground up for mobile platforms that’s coming later this year!

We’re hard at work on this free mobile game for iOS and Android that takes the core, competitive gameplay of Rocket League and reimagines it for a mobile device. In Rocket League Sideswipe, players compete from a new perspective on the field in 1v1 or 2v2 matches. Games will be fast-paced, 2-minute matches that you can play with friends near or far thanks to online play.”

There’s even alpha gameplay footage of the game out already, check it out down below!

We think that Rocket League Sideswipe looks interesting, albeit a tad strange. It looks like a 2.5D version of Rocket League with the goal in the middle of the walls?

The good news is that the game will be completely free for all players, so if you’re worried about wasting money on the game….don’t.

The game will also feature mobile controls that Psyonix claims are “easy to pick up whether you’re a master of Rocket League or a new player still learning your way around the field.”

It also seems that there are advanced mechanics for those who plan on playing the game competitively, as well as an online Ranking system for competitive play.

Rocket League Sideswipe Release Date

Psyonix is looking at a worldwide launch for the game later this year for free on both iOS and Android.
