Kuro no Kiseki Reveal: More Returning and New Characters!

Kuro no Kiseki reveal

Falcom has been pretty consistently showing off new info regarding the next title in the Trails series: Kuro no Kiseki. While these have varied from the setting, music, combat, and more, characters have taken center stage, with both new and old characters alike being shown off. The newest Kuro no Kiseki reveal brings us four characters which will appear in the game!

The first of the new characters is Yin, an incredibly skilled assassin from Calvard. Yin’s identity as Rixia Mao, a popular performer in Crossbell’s Arc en Ciel, has always been something of an open secret since Trails from Zero. Here, she only dons a mask to hide her identity, as opposed to the Yin outfit she wore on missions before her time in Crossbell.

Once again, she’s come under contract by Heiyue, this time to help settle matters in Calvard with a mafia organization, Armata. Rixia’s return could have been expected before, but Hajimari talks about how much she views Crossbell as home, so Heiyue has to have something up their sleeve. Either way, Rixia coming back is welcome info!

Hajimari also revealed Renne Bright’s involvement in Calvard through its post launch episode releases. Renne heads the student council at one of the most famed academies in all of Zemuria, Aramis Academy. While I won’t recap all the information within Haji, Renne appears to be at the school primarily for information gathering and regularly keeps up with Tita as well.

Seeing as she’s a friend of Anges, a member of the main cast, Renne will likely be one of the more prominent side characters, though one must wonder how much of her former Enforcer prowess she will show in the first game of the arc. We can also assume that Renne will act as a tether to previous series deuteragonists, Estelle and Joshua, and that the two will likely show up at some point within the arc.

Another interesting Kuro no Kiseki reveal was that of the head of the mafia gang which Rixia has been sent to fight. Jerald Dantes is the head of Armata, and came to power through usurping the old boss, ruling all below him with fear. He believes this to be a central part of humanity, and as such wielding power and fear means wielding control.

With the staggering size of Kuro’s villainous cast, it can be hard to tell just how prominent Dantes will be, but he does seem to be a threat if Heiyue needed to call in Rixia to help out. I’m curious just how important Armata will be both in Kuro, and the following game(s) in the arc.

The final Kuro no Kiseki reveal was a long awaited one: the identity of Ouroboros’s 4th Anguis. The Thousand Oathbreaker has only been mentioned a few times in the series, first in 3rd, then Azure, and finally Steel III. We know he was deeply involved in the Phantasmal Blaze Plan, and will be in Calvard due to the Society’s plans.

It was also shown that the man is named Ellroy Harwood, and once belonged to the same organization as Sharon Krueger and the Golden Butterfly. Early confirmation of Anguis involvement may just mean that Kuro will start out faster and at a higher level compared to the past arcs, which all started their casts at effectively zero.
