If you’ve been playing some of the hit card game Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel, you may find yourself wondering if the game supports crossplay.

Does Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel support crossplay and cross-platform play?

Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel not only has crossplay support, but it is actually already fully functional cross platform across each and every combination of platforms. No matter what platform your friends play on, as long as you know each others game IDs, you can match against each other and duel.

This feature means you can be matched against a player on a PC while playing on Nintendo Switch. Or you can duel someone on iOS as an Android user, or any other combination you can think up, because each version is totally linked with the others. You might not even be able to tell if your opponent is on the same system as you or not when playing because the difference isn’t particularly noticeable thanks to the style of game.

Of course in some games, crossplay gets a bad name and some players want to disable it. Typically that comes from one platform having an unfair advantage or being more likely to have cheaters. This isn’t really an issue for Yu Gi Oh! Master Duel, so having total crossplay makes a lot of sense.

If you haven’t tried Master Duel just yet, I’d recommend giving it a swing at least once if you’re a fan of Yu-Gi-Oh! or card games more generally, as the new player experience is extremely generous. It does fall off a bit over time as you may expect to help the devs sell some premium currency because if it stayed at the rate you start the game at, you might well get most of the game for free over the span of a few months.

It does also have an excellent card crafting system, which I would credit as one of the best ones in recent card games in general. It suffers a bit from the flaw that your card obtainment rate falls off which impacts how it works, but that is the only factor that handicaps the crafting system at all, so generating cards is another positive. It’d help if we could break some more of the rarer cards from all those opened legacy packs though.
