Is Square Enix’s Outriders Free To Play?
The new looter shooter from Square Enix is almost here and we are discussing whether Outriders is actually a Free to Play title or not. Here’s what you need to know.
Despite Anthem’s failings, the Looter Shooter genre is alive and thriving thanks to Bungie’s Destiny 2.
However, is there even room for another? Square Enix seems to think so. From the People Can Fly development team, Outriders hopes to shine a unique light on the estbalished genre with cover-based combat and an interesting narrative behind it.
But… Is Outriders free to play like Destiny 2?

Unfortunately, no. Outriders is not free to play at the moment. For almost everyone, Outriders is going to come at a cost.
However, if you are an Xbox Game Pass subscriber… you can actually get Outriders for free with your subscription!

In an effort to combat the numerous new releases on PlayStation’s PS Plus membership, it seems Microsft has struck a deal with Square Enix and Outriders is coming to Xbox’s Game Pass on April 1st!
So, as long as you keep your Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate subscription, you’ll be able to jump into Outriders when it launches on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S at no additional cost!
We’re also not saying that it won’t be free to play in some time in the future, because… Stranger things have happened, right?
