Well, fans have been waiting what feels like forever in Internet time for the release of Friday Night Funkin Week 7, which means its really been like, a few months. Even so, most fans, myself included, have been anxiously awaiting its release what with the community being as active as it is, and the developers giving us a sneak peak at one of the new songs around a month ago. Here’s what was added to the game!

With Friday Night Funkin Week 7’s release, fans stormed Newgrounds at such an astonishing rate the entire website crashed. For reference, this has only ever happened a few times before, with one such occasion being the most long awaited Homestuck flash upload of its time, so this level of traffic is nothing to sneeze at.

As with most previous weeks, Week 7 contains three full new songs to play with yet another antagonist to face off against The Boyfriend. This time, its a popular Newgrounds character: Tankman, voiced by the head of Newgrounds himself. This week is also the first to feature full voice acting and animated cutscenes, perhaps a taste of what’s to come?

The increase in production quality really is insane, though. This makes all the other weeks look like, well, a free browser game. Its easy to see why this week took so much longer than the rest to release. The new cutscene even seems to add some extra continuity and daresay lore into the game. Perhaps Friday Night Funkin is bigger than we all could have thought.

The songs themselves are also a cut above the rest in terms of speed and difficulty. Most fans would say M.I.L.F. was the hardest song in the game by a country mile, but all three of these have a similar number of total notes and patterns that are sure to engage and infuriate the playerbase until any new content drips out.

As it stands now, the Funkin Crew released a Kickstarter to fund a, ahem, Full Ass Game, so content for the free browser version is likely to slow down for the foreseeable future. Even so, Friday Night Funkin Week 7 was a huge blast, and I for one am anxiously looking forward to news and songs coming from the devs!
