Friday Night Funkin update and new song release!

Friday Night Funkin fans were finally given a wonderful surprise after over half a year of relative radio silence! Composer Kawai Sprite debuted the ERECT difficulty remix of Week 2’s South, though the real stinger was left in the video description. It looks like the wait is nearing its end for a Friday Night Funkin update…
While the remix of South for the new difficulty is certainly sick, a Friday Night Funkin update was announced for Q1 2022! What this update will include, however, is mostly speculation. While many are anxious for the official Week 8 release, it is possible this update will be more backend things like Week 7’s note effects and recharting, perhaps with the addition of the first ERECT difficulty song to tide us over.

Considering the Kickstarter still lists the delivery for backer tiers that include a copy of the Full Ass Game as April 2022, it also seems likely that this is just an update and not the long-awaited full title. An early Q2 release for Friday Night Funkin still looks to be in the cards, though delays can always strike. Placing an update out like this could give the team good data on both fan reactions to the ERECT difficulty, as well as potential QA on their end between the Q1 update and the full game’s official release.
Whatever the Friday Night Funkin update may bring, any new content at all feels cathartic after such a long wait from the greatness that was Week 7. I’ll be sure to give any more Friday Night Funkin updates as they happen, as hope for Week 8’s release isn’t entirely dead… Until then I guess I’ll just have to bop to South on loop!
