Best Friday Night Funkin Mods

Fnf B Side Mod

What with Friday Night Funkin Week 7 having been released and most people having played it by now, the wait continues yet again for new content. Thankfully, the extensive modding community definitely has you covered. There’s an INSANE amount of Friday Night Funkin mods out there for people to try out, but here are (in my opinion) some of the best of ’em around!

KadeEngine

This Friday Night Funkin mod may be the most useful for any big rhythm game veteran, or even just a notable fan of the genre. KadeEngine, unlike most mods, isn’t editing songs or anything like that, but more adjusts core stuff about the game.

It helps fix some of the dropped inputs the game is known for having on faster songs like MILF. Beyond that, though, the mod offers a ton of other nice little things. First of all, you can adjust the game’s notes to scroll to the top or bottom of the screen. Many rhythm games have notes scroll down, like OSU Mania or Guitar Hero for instance, so many people may find the game easier to play with downscroll enabled.

The engine also adds nice little things like if you’re currently Full Combo-ing a song, number of misses, and accuracy percentage for those who are sticklers at improving their scores and combo count. All in all, its a useful mod for any Friday Night Funkin player.

B Side Remixes

I”ve mentioned these in my article about a theoretical Week 8, but the B Side Remixes are definitely one of the best mods for Friday Night Funkin.

Made by Rozebud, this is an overhaul to the entire game with palette swaps of the characters and scenery, acts as a higher difficulty, and features fully remixed songs to play, so it isn’t just the same thing but harder.

Taking inspiration from Celeste’s B Side chapters, this mod lives up to the precedent by cranking the difficulty up to eleven while still feeling fair. Also, while subjective, I think many of the remixed songs are total bangers and some may even be better than the originals. Roses especially comes to mind.

Boss Mods

Well, this is one where I’m more gonna highlight a type of mod rather than any specific one. The boss mods are really just fan made weeks with custom graphics and usually little stories to tell as well.

I can’t highlight every single one but some of the most prominent are the Whitty, Foolhardy, and Tricky mods. All try to ramp up the difficulty to insane levels and kinda bop as well. Here’s an example.

You’ll find a ton of these mods so really just install and try out what you think looks interesting! The support for the game definitely wont end any time soon.
