It’s finally here. The 2022 Worlds Play-ins day six has arrived and the final two teams will be placed into the group stage in New York City. Who out of MAD Lions, Evil Geniuses, DetonatioN FocusMe, and Royal Never Give Up are all vying for the final two spots?

With Evil Geniuses, they have the chance to be the first North American team to win a best-of-five series against a team from Europe. The last time a North American team beat a European team in a best-of-five, was back in 2011. Today they have the chance to make history.

Today is also the day when one major regional team will be eliminated from Worlds. Who will be first? Will it be the MAD Lions who were not able to make it out of play-ins back in 2020, or will it be Evil Geniuses who were forced to play with a substitute bottom laner, or will Royal Never Give Up be upset and not be present in New York City?

North America has beaten Europe in a best-of-five series, and MAD Lions have once again not been able to make it past the play-ins stage. The team that had four out of the five best players in Europe this year and the LEC MVP was outdone by the team that had four of the best North American players and the LCS MVP.

Evil Geniuses have made it to New York City, and they did it handily against the MAD Lions. With smart draft decisions, like preventing the MAD Lions top laner from playing Gnar, the champion he was known for and outplaying their opponents all over the rift.

For MAD Lions, this is a somber moment. There was a lot of bravado and trash talk coming from the team, but it all fell short when it mattered the most. Next year will be interesting for the team, but fans should not give up hope for them. They performed well up to this point and will be ready to play next year.

Worlds play-ins day six has come to an end, and Royal Never Give Up moves on to the next round. After beating DetonatioN FocusMe, they have made it to New York City and been placed in Group D alongside Gen.G, CTBC Flying Oyster, and 100 Thieves. If their form continues to be what they have shown in the play-ins stage, they should have no problem in New York City.

For DetonatioN FocusMe, Worlds play-ins day six left a bitter-sweet feeling for the team and their fans. After making it to groups last year for the first time as a region, their opportunity to make it there again ends here. Despite them being able to take the first game against Royal Never Give Up, they were not able to take another game off of them.

Though their run ends here, they are still by far the best team that Japan has to offer. They may switch up their roster around going into next year, but you can be sure that they will be on the international stage again, ready to fight for their place at every chance that they get.
