Halo MCC CE: Where is the Bandana Skull in the fourth mission?

|
Cartographer mission start

The Bandana skull of Halo MCC CE can be found on the fourth mission, the Silent Cartographer, and here’s where exactly.

Compared to the other skull in this mission, Famine, Bandana is much harder to obtain, requiring a specific grenade or rocket jump to be able to reach the area the skull spawns.

Where is the Bandana skull in MCC Halo CE?

The Bandana skull is located a ways into the level – given that you’ll have to play through a fair portion of the level to find it, I’d recommend following our Silent Cartographer Terminal and Famine Skull guides to grab those while you’re on the way to this skull.

With that said, to get the Bandana skull you’ll also need either an overshield and the Rocket launcher or the ability to grenade jump using either plasma grenades or frag grenades, with frag grenades being the easier choice – make sure to save some if you want to try using frags, as those might well be in short supply in this mission.

Specifically, the skull is located in the room with the door override – specifically for the door the Elites lock on you when you first enter one of the structures in the level. From the room with the button, head out into the open interior room – the one where you can easily fall to your death.

The skull is located on the support structure that runs above the room shown in the picture above, with the door override.

To get up here, as mentioned, you’ll need to use some kind of explosive-assisted jump in most cases.

The easiest way to do this is to hit the button as you normally would in this mission, which will cause a Pelican to crash outside – that Pelican drops off a Rocket Launcher for you, at which point you can navigate your way back to the room containing the skull.

Just before you enter, there are overshields located next to the second door to the structure, which you will want to make sure you can survive attempting a rocket jump – overshields are also scattered throughout the level, these are simply the closest.

It can be worth wandering in and out of the building a few times to force a good checkpoint location if you’re concerned you won’t manage the rocket jump the first attempt – but provided you’re packing overshields it shouldn’t be too difficult to manage.

When you’re fully geared up just jump near the edge of the walkway and fire the rocket down near the height of your jump, it should launch you straight up to the skull if your angle and timing are right – and if not, no worries, you can always try it again from the checkpoint.

Is there anything else?

That’s everything for the Bandana skull, its a bit more annoying than all of the other skulls so far, but explosive-assisted jumps aren’t the worst mechanic to use for collectibles at least.

In any case, that’s about everything for this short guide. We’ve got more Halo content available for you if you’re interested, and if you’d like to try reading more of what I’ve written, my content is available on my author page.
