Genshin Impact: Which boss do you need to farm for Wanderer Materials?

The Wanderer, previously known as Fatui Harbinger Scaramouche, is a new 5* Anemo catalyst character in Genshin Impact. Therefore it’s time to ask, what boss do you need to farm for Wanderer Materials?

Boss-dropped ascension materials are essential for every character in Genshin Impact to be viable at higher-level gameplay. The Wanderer, or Scaramouche as he was previously known, is no exception to this rule.

Ascension materials for the Wanderer are dropped by the Aeonblight Drake, located in the Sumeru rainforest region.

The Perpetual Caliber items, dropped by the Aeonblight drake, are used as Wanderer materials needed for character ascension. As with all Genshin Impact characters, these boss ascension materials are required for character ascension, and not even Scaramouche gets around that, no matter how important he thinks he is.

Fortunately, much like Faruzan who also released in Genshin Impact 3.3, the Wanderer materials needed come from a relatively easy world boss, the Aeonblight drake. Aeonblight drake isn’t one you need to be concerned about unless you’re underlevelled for your world-level setting, or if you rely heavily on physical damage teams.

Much like other Ruin machine-type enemies, the Aeonblight drake will take reduced damage from purely physical attacks. Elemental reactions or standard attacks infused with elemental energy, such as from Yoimiya’s elemental skill, will be a huge help here. While you can beat the boss using physical damage, it does have 70% reduced damage from it.

You have a much easier, and faster farming experience using elemental damage, which is only 10% reduced. If the fight lasts long enough, the Aeonblight drake can absorb an element to increase its resistance to it to 70% as well. It will still be vulnerable to all other elements as usual though – so an elementally diverse team can make short work of this machine.

Where is the Aeonblight drake?

The Aeonblight drake can be found in the southern rainforest region of Sumeru, near the Devantaka Mountain area featuring the huge, and fortunately broken, ruin guard.

The teleport beacon near the north side of the pit is the closest to the Aeonblight drake. After teleporting there, spin around until you spot the cave shown below. Head inside and then face the direction of the drake on your map – head that way. If you try to access the boss from other areas, you’ll end up way above it, and unable to find a way down, as the boss only has one entrance.

As you’ll be repeatedly visiting this boss to farm for Wanderer materials, it can be a good idea to bring a portable waypoint teleport beacon to place next to the fight arena. The walk isn’t the longest boss trek in gaming or anything, but as far as Genshin Impact goes, it is a pretty annoying one.

Doing this won’t make the Aeonblight drake fight any easier for you though, so make sure to prepare accordingly if you intend to farm for Wanderer materials for the newly recruited Scaramouche.
