Say hello to the Hoyoverse – miHoYo’s new brand and future goals

If you play Genshin or Honkai Impact, you surely have noticed some differences when starting the game. The classic “Tech Otakus Save The World” slogan is gone, and instead of “miHoYo”, we’re presented to a new brand, called Hoyoverse.

This is how the company behind these games will now be known as. At least outside China, that is. This rebrand was focused on their international audience, since they will still be known as “miHoYo” in their home country.

The official Hoyoverse site is already up, containing information for all of their current games and other products, such as Genshin Impact, Honkai Impact 3rd, Tears of Themis and the N0va Desktop. Genshin’s site’s new address also contains “hoyoverse” too.

What is the Hoyoverse, miHoyo’s new brand?

Hoyoverse is simply the name the company will now be adopting outside China. Referring to them as both ways will be correct, but Hoyoverse should be the new “default” choice for the western audiences.

In the official announcement on the rebranding, Haoyu Cai, co-founder and CEO of HoYoverse stated that their mission is “to create a vast and content-driven virtual world that integrates games, anime, and other diverse types of entertainment, which will provide players with a high level of freedom and immersion”.

Also according to the announcement, the brand represents their commitment to delivering new, immersive and high-quality content for their players. Besides their games, Hoyoverse has recently released new products such as the virtual character Lumi and the aforementioned N0va Desktop wallpaper app.

What will happen with their games?

At first, no big changes were announced for any of their games. The icons were changed to exchange the “miHoYo” name to “Hoyoverse”, and the logos when you launch the game are also reflecting the change.

But with this new suggestive name, combined with the emphasis on bringing new content to their players, allows us to speculate what awaits us. The name Hoyoverse leads us to believe that, from now on, their games will focus more on the fact that they may be in a single multiverse.

Honkai received a collab with Genshin, and there are many other hints that both games are connected. Besides the similar name, characters such as Venti, Raiden and Yae have their counterparts in Honkai. Dvalin was also shown in Honkai at one point, and there are some fan theories that Teyvat is linked to the Project Ark.

Leaving lore facts aside, we also might expect more interaction between Hoyoverse’s future projects with their new brand. Their next game, Honkai Star Rail, had a successful beta, and will surely expand even more this incredible (mi)Hoyoverse.
