Genshin Impact: New Geo character with cat-like features rumored to arrive in Version 3.7

Since the release of the 4-star Geo character Yun Jin in Version 2.4, no more Geo characters have been added to the ever-growing roster of playable Genshin Impact characters. However, a recent rumor suggests that a new Geo character will finally arrive in Version 3.7!
Story-wise, the lack of new Geo characters is often associated with the resignation of the Geo Archon Morax, also known as the playable character Zhongli. However, meta-wise, most players can agree that the Geo Element is not really something that most team compositions require.
Therefore, it is exciting to see what this rumored Geo character can bring to the battlefield. The arrival of a new Geo character could also open new possibilities for the element.
Genshin Impact leaker describes new Geo character’s appearance
Earlier this month, known leaker SpendYourPrimos, the alternate account of SaveYourPrimos, revealed that they “have heard rumors about a cat-eared Short Female (Ayaka/Yanfei) speculated for 3.7.” However, the leaker stated that aside from these features, this character’s rarity, weapon, and kit are still unknown.

The leaker would later share more details about the new Geo character’s outfit and color palette, saying:
“Pale complexion. Green eyes, blonde hair reaching her waist. Brown Inazuma-style crop top with a big, yellow omamori knot + bell in the center (where the bow/tie would go on a seifuku). Detached teal+blue layered sleeves, short teal+blue layered skirt and shorts, exposed tummy.”

With these details, fans were quick to create speculative fan art for the new Geo character, who is now dubbed “Geo Neko” or the “Geo Neko Girl” because of her rumored cat-like features.
Some notable artworks include those of Twitter users trish_doodles and koohiirin. SaveYourPrimos retweeted both fan art pieces with trish_doodles getting a solid 8/10 approval. On the other hand, koohiirin’s work was noted by the known leaker to have an overall silhouette that is “very close to her design.”

With its focus on more defensive gameplay (Crystallize reaction) and no reactions whatsoever with the new Dendro Element, Geo characters are often added to teams only for very specific purposes.
For instance, the inclusion of the Geo characters Zhongli and Noelle in teams is mostly because of their shields. Yun Jin is a niche Geo character who provides a normal attack DMG bonus, making her an effective support unit for the Hydro character Ayato and the Pyro character Yoimiya. Another niche Geo character is Gorou whose potential can only be maximized as a support unit for a DEF-scaling Geo DPS like Arataki Itto or Noelle in Mono Geo Teams.
With the low incorporation of Geo characters in most teams, will the arrival of the new Geo character change things up a bit? More interestingly, will she become the Geo representative in the Standard Banner?
