Since its release last year, Genshin Impact has become one of top games in the world. So far we have seen Genshin Impact be released on PlayStation 4, mobile, and PC, but soon it will be making its next-gen debut on the PS5.

In a recent dev update, miHoYo gave players new details about what to expect from the game’s first next-gen port, as well as explain more about the work that has gone into it making it happen.

“We’ve been working to develop various functions to fully utilize this next-gen console in the long run.

We created a graphics library completely from the ground up, and we built a customized file-loading system to take advantage of the powerful SSD of the PS5.

So in future updates, we will have much more potential to elevate the visual quality and game performance.”

miHoYo will also be taking advantage of the power under the hood of the PS5 by providing a greater level of detail compared to other versions of the game, as well as allow for 4K resolution and HDR support.

“The all-new graphics library allows us to pack even more details into the game world.

Look closely at your surroundings, and the high-res texture will tell you a unique story in every tiny detail, raise your eyes to the horizon, and the enhanced Level of Detail distance will bring you an impressive view of landmarks near and far.”

Loading times is where the PS5 version of the game will shine most as loading when teleporting will be almost instant, and jumping into domains will take only a few seconds.

Although we will have to see the game in action on the PS5, it does sound like it could be faster than even the PC version. I have Genshin Impact installed on my NVME drive and it still takes a few seconds between teleporting or entering a domain, so it will be interesting to compare the two side by side.

The new DualSense controller is a huge selling point of the system, utilizing new features such as haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.

miHoYo look to take advantage of these new features too,

“The DualSense controller adopts very different technologies, and we’re still redesigning the controller support from scratch to explore it’s full potential. You may notice that the controller vibration feels different from that in the backward-compatible version of the game. We can’t wait to integrate even more of the controller’s features to better reflect your immersive experience in Teyvat.”

Genshin Impact is currently available on PC, iOS, Android, and PS4. The PS5 version will launch worldwide on April 28th, the same date that Genshin Impact 1.6 goes live.
