Kazuha rerun banner holds the record for best Day 1 sales

After his initial release, players constantly asked Hoyoverse for Kazuha to return for the banners, as many had skipped him due to numerous reasons (such as the imminent arrival of Inazuma). Those prayers have finally been answered, and his rerun banner sales have been explosive since the update.

The Kazuha rerun banner has currently taken over as the best-selling banner for day one, which belonged previously to Yelan. This is not referring to total sales, as Ayaka’s infamous eternity banner is still the best-selling banner in history, but to how well these banners went during their first day available.

Kazuha rerun banner sale numbers

According to Genshin Labs, the reruns for Kazuha and Klee had a profit of over US$ 10 million, barely surpassing Yelan and Xiao. The previous version double rerun has amassed around US$ 9,8 million, while the Raiden Shogun’s debut day had a revenue of US$ 9,3 million.

With Kazuha being one of the most anticipated reruns in the game’s history, this is not a huge surprise. Klee also helps with some of the numbers despite not being the main attraction. Diluc’s new skin may also be responsible for the numbers.

As you may imagine, the first day has almost always the best numbers for any banner, as everyone wants to get the new/returning characters as soon as possible. Not only whales are topping up, but players who lost the 50/50 also open their wallets here.

As of day 4, the Kazuha rerun banner is sitting at around US$ 14 million. Sales usually have a small increase during the banner’s ending, and it could be the case here. Kazuha’s one of the strongest buffers in the game, and many are eager to get him on their team.

It’s important to remember that Genshin Labs shows exclusively data from Chinese iOS sales, and global statistics are unavailable (at a reliable source, at least). But analyzing sales from the game’s homeland are good for having an idea of how good the banner is doing worldwide.

Japan sales differences

An exception would be for Japanese sales. The sales records have some huge differences between both countries, which leads to a completely different list of best-selling characters. The differences may not be exclusive to Japan, but it’s an interesting example of how cultural differences may influence how each player will spend their money.

According to data from Game Idea, Ayaka’s extended banner had a final revenue of 2.5 billion Yen (around US$ 18 million), while the record of best selling banner belongs to Yelan, who was able to reach almost 4 billion yen (a whopping US$ 28 million!) during her run. Game Idea uses what is more like an overall estimative of all sales, but is still very accurate.

The Kazuha rerun banner has currently sold 1,2 billion yen (a little more than US$ 8,6 million) during these first 4 days, and Klee may be arguably a lot more responsible for these numbers than in China as she’s a lot more popular around there.

The general consensus is that Chinese players roll for meta characters, while Japan rolls for popularity. An example of this is how Tartaglia reruns were better in Japan than in China. Kazuha and Klee combine both of them, so these numbers may increase even more.

The most impressive part is how sales have been only increasing with time. The next update will bring a lot of players back to the game with a whole new region to explore, the official introduction of the Dendro element and many characters wielding it. Will we see a new banner day one record in 3.0?
