While people are discussing if Yoimiya is worth rolling or not, my eyes are set on the new 4-star character Sayu, the first Anemo Claymore character, and on the fact of her actually being a good healer or not.

The second banner of the 2.0 Genshin Impact version is generating many discussions.

Sayu was revealed officially by miHoYo at the start of the 1.6 version, along with the 5-star characters Ayaka and Yoimiya. Her skills seem to be fun and have many different effects.

Also, she’s a sleepy cute little girl in a tanuki suit holding a giant sword, and that’s enough for me to roll for her. But is she actually strong? Is Sayu a good healer?

Overall view

Being a 4-star, she has average stats, and she gets extra Elemental Mastery by ascending, which is great for her since she’s Anemo, and she also gets extra bonus for EM (thanks to her passive talents).

An interesting thing to notice is that she’s not as fragile as she looks. She can reach almost 12k base HP at lv 90 and has a solid 745 base defense.

Her base stats are similar to Razor, but the wolf boy obviously has a lot more damage in his normal attacks.

For a Claymore user, she’s actually pretty fast when attacking. Her hits aren’t weak either, so while she may not be the best character to use as main DPS, she can actually pack a punch while you don’t have any cooldowns available.

Elemental Skill and Burst

Her skill is Yoohoo Art: Fuuin Dash. By pressing it, Sayu will deliver a fast kick in front of her.

By holding it, she will start to roll around dealing damage, absorbing any element she enters in contact with, and giving a final kick when the skill is over. The skill CD will be longer if you choose to roll (and who wouldn’t choose to?).

She will be great for creating Swirl reactions since she will be constantly applying Anemo while rolling. With her talents and constellations, this skill will also be able to heal allies, so it will have even more utility.

Her Burst is Yoohoo Art: Mujina Flurry. She deals damage in an area around her while also healing her allies.

She will also summon her Muji-Muji Daruma, who will act as both a healing circle and damage pet.

This heal scales with her Atk, so it will be an important stat for her.

Her burst works like Bennett’s. If there’s a character with less than 70% HP nearby, the Daruma will heal that single character until it has more than 70%.

If not, then it’ll start to damage your enemies. The Daruma’s capacities are also enhanced with talents and constellations.

Talents

Her field talent is one of the main reasons people want her. By having her in your party, you’ll not startle small creatures (including Crystalflies) away when getting near them. Great for mobile users.

Her first ascension talent makes her heal your party whenever she makes a Swirl reaction.

Since this heal scales with EM, this is the talent that makes EM so valuable to her, and also starts to make Sayu seem like a good healer. It also indirectly makes her Elemental Skill able to heal.

The only problem is that Sayu needs to be the active character.

Her second ascension talent, No Work Today!, makes her Daruma also heal other party members for 20% of the amount received by the main target, while also increasing its AoE against enemies.

Remember that, because of her previous talent, the Daruma will also end up healing your allies even when attacking (if it creates a Swirl, of course).

Constellations

Being a 4-star, her constellations are easier to get. While a C6 Sayu is not always a reasonable goal, it’s not impossible even for F2P players or low spenders.

The most notable constellations are C1 and C6. The first one is just like Bennett’s, and will make her Daruma a lot more useful and “smarter”. It may be necessary to use her to her full potential.

Her C6 makes her EM scaling even stronger. EM is already a great attribute to have on Anemo characters, and Sayu makes even more use of it.

We’ll need to wait for more people to make tests, but a full EM build, similar to Sucrose, could be a good call.

TLDR; Is Sayu actually a good healer?

The short answer is yes, and while some better choices for healing exist, even for 4-stars, she does a lot of unique things, and healing is only a small part of this.

Let’s start with her Burst. Doing some quick maths:

Let’s say Sayu has 1100 Atk, which would be the average with a lv 90 weapon. Her Burst at lv 8 heals for 127,8% + 938. This means she would heal any character for 2343 HP, with no set bonus or heal % headpiece involved.

While this amount is not very impressive, let’s not forget that she also heals when creating Swirls. This is the definitive factor for Sayu being a good healer.

Similar to Qiqi and Barbara, she’ll give your team smaller heals while also dealing damage, but since she’ll be creating Swirls, the damage will actually be relevant. Just think about Jean, who heals your team while maintaining a good DPS.

More maths: With 300 EM (not a huge amount, to be honest), Sayu would heal her allies for 660 extra HP on each Swirl she creates. Make it 1500 with 1000 EM.

The dream scenario is to Sonic roll into a bunch of Slimes with low HP and finish your skill freshly healed.

And again, I’m not considering the Maiden Beloved set, which would be a good choice for her.

But if you’re going for the more offensive route, 4-piece Viridescent Venerer would be the best set for using her as a Subdps THAT ALSO HEALS YOUR TEAM.

While using this set, if you ever feel like the healing is somewhat lacking, you can just get another healer into the team, since Sayu will already be doing a good job with damage and reducing the enemies’ resistances.

This would be my choice of artifacts for her, but she’s very flexible, and mixes of Atk/Anemo DMG/Heal artifact sets will all work wonders.

The new Greatsword available for crafting in Inazuma, the Katsuragikiri Nagamasa, will also be a good choice for her, since it will help with her enormous 80 energy cost.

Alternatively, you can go with Favonius Greatsword or the Sacrificial Greatsword for the double rolls.

If Energy Recharge isn’t a problem or you got a C6 Sayu, you can go for a full EM build using the Rainslasher Claymore.

Or if you want to see a small ninja kicking some Hilichurl ass, just get your Wolf’s Gravestone out of your Diluc’s hands and give it to her.

The bad part is that C1 seems to be almost mandatory for her Burst to be efficient. But even with it, the Burst works just like Bennett’s, and she isn’t capable of healing above 70% HP with it (her Swirls will still heal, though).

Also, in a realistic scenario, you may not be able to always apply lots and lots of Swirls, so you may find yourself with less healing than expected.

Sayu can definitely hold her own, though, and she does a lot more than heal, so she’s worth a spot on a team.

If you just want to make the others see you rolling (while they’re hating), and also create some nice elemental reactions on the way, just go for Sayu as she is both a good healer and a good girl.

Genshin Impact is currently on its 2.0 version, “The Immovable God and the Eternal Euthymia”, which brought the region of Inazuma to the game, along with many new enemies, characters, weapons, and areas to explore.

If you want to roll for this small rolling girl, you can play the game for free on mobile devices, Playstation 4, Playstation 5 and Pc on both miHoYo’s official launcher and Epic Games Store. A Nintendo Switch version is stated to be in development.
