Genshin Impact: How to get a hidden chest in Sumeru

One of the many ways Genshin Impact uses to create immersion is to introduce mini-quests and achievements that require you to wait for some days in real life before you can complete them. Such a puzzle was recently discovered in the new region, rewarding players with a hidden chest in Sumeru if they manage to complete the mini-quest.

Time gating rewards have been a prominent gameplay element in the most recent areas, which has divided those who appreciate it and those who don’t. Inazuma has a lot of achievements and objectives with this premise. Most notably, Tsurumi Island requires you to complete the Through the Mists questline, which will take at least 4 days to achieve.

As the game progresses, expect to find more and more of these kinds of secret treasures, so make sure to explore the areas and look out for something new and different. Teyvat is full of secrets, and one of the best parts of exploring it is discovering them.

Another important detail is that when we say to “wait for the next day”, all you have to do is wait for the daily reset (when commissions reset and the domains’ rewards are updated). If you happen to be online when it happens, reopen the game to be sure it will properly update.

How to get the hidden chest in Sumeru

The mini-quest was discovered by user u/Nineosix on Reddit and it’s quite simple. It only requires doing a small task for 5 days until you get the treasure spawned. Note that you don’t need to do this in 5 consecutive days. Missing one day is fine and won’t reset your progress.

To start, go to Gandha Hill next to the Artifact Domain in Sumeru. Look for a Hilichurl Camp next to the road.

Before start killing the Hilichurls, take a look at which torch is currently lit as you may have previously already killed them before. If this is your first time, the leftmost torch should be the one illuminated. If any of the others is lit in its place and you haven’t used any Pyro characters near them, you’re a few days ahead.

Anyways, your goal is to come here and defeat these Hilichurls daily. Go there, clear the camp, check the lit torch and come back the next day. Treat it as an extra Daily Commission. As mentioned before, there’s no harm done if you end up forgetting to do it for a day, as your progress won’t be reset.

As each Daily Reset passes, the next torch will be the one lit. There’s not much of a difference in enemies until the fourth day, in which the Hilichurls have asked a Stone Lawachurl to help them.

After beating their last defense, you’ll notice that the last torch was already lit, meaning that your job is finally done. Come back on the fifth day and claim your hidden chest in Sumeru. It’s sadly only an Exquisite Chest, but at least it isn’t that hard to get.

Are there other similar treasures in Sumeru?

The region is still fairly new, and there are currently no other reports of a similar hidden chest in Sumeru that requires you to wait for a daily reset. But is very likely that this feature will most likely be present in the next expansions, such as in the upcoming desert region.

Genshin Impact is available for PS4, PS5, PC, Android and iOS. A Nintendo Switch version is allegedly in the makings.
