Sumeru just arrived and everyone is still exploring the new region, but that doesn’t stop the devs. The new beta version for Genshin Impact is already live, and after getting footage from her animations, we also got all of the Nilou skills and talents descriptions thanks to the Honey Impact database, one of the best non-official centers for all Genshin information.

They got us covered with all the beta descriptions and scalings for this new dancer character which will be the featured 5-star character in one of the 3.1 main banners. We still don’t know which other characters will be present, though, and neither if she’s the first or the second banner.

Nevertheless, take a look at her animations if you haven’t already. You can immediately notice that she seems to have more animations than your average character, and that’s thanks to her Elemental Skill, which has two distinct effects. They will be explained here. Be aware that this is still a beta test, so it’s all subject to change.

All of the Nilou Skills and Talents descriptions

Nilou is a 5-star Hydro Sword character and has HP% as her ascension stat. This chosen stat couldn’t be any better for her, as due to a similarity to Yelan or Kokomi, all of her attacks have HP scaling. The new, improved Hydro resonance also gets her more HP, and you’ll want to use it most of the time for a different reason.

Her bread and butter skill has two distinct effects. The description may sound confusing, but it’s simple in the end. After using the skill, you have two options:

  • Using her normals, which will trigger the Hydro infusion in the Sword Dance state in the third use.
  • Using the skill again, which triggers the Whirling Steps state in its third use.

This makes her pretty versatile, as she can be either a main DPS or a Hydro off-field applier. The description doesn’t mention the active character getting infused with the element (like Barbara does), so no chance of getting yourself frozen. It scales from max HP just like all Nilou skills and talents, making use of some of those “leftover” artifacts you may have.

This ability, however, well it’s a simple damage Burst with some chunky scalings. It deals a total of over 76% of her max HP at Level 6, emphasizing her Sub DPS identity. Criticals can make it even stronger, as do her talents.

Her first talent is the reason for her wanting Bloom so much, as Ubatcha has previously said on Twitter. She gains a huge bonus by triggering the Dendro + Hydro reactions, and while she can activate any other Hydro-related reactions, it’s not her main strength. Her second talent simply makes stacking HP on her even better.

Constellations

Just like most new characters, her second constellation is one of the best ones. She’s completely playable from C0, and getting extra copies only makes Nilou skills and talents somewhat better than they already are.

Extra considerations

Nilou works better in simple teams with only Dendro and Hydro characters and has a clear objective of triggering as many Blooms as possible. She’s very capable as the main DPS herself, but she really shines in perfect situations with the new Dendro element at her disposal.

She will be a good pair with Candace, and they might even be on the same banner thanks to their synergy. Vaporize compositions also look promising. She’ll be more than a simple cute waifu, but also a very welcoming addition to the cast.
