Genshin Impact: Why is Kazuha so good?

Last Updated on: 26th June 2022, 05:00 am

Kaedehara Kazuha is often regarded as one of the best supports in Genshin Impact, but why is he so good? The 5-star Anemo character will soon receive a rerun, according to many rumors, and there are a lot of reasons for people to be so excited about it.

He was instantly labeled as a “5-star Sucrose” at the moment people saw him, thanks to the undeniable similarity in their kits. But he ended up being much more than her, and we’ll now explain why in this article.

The initial overlook

Kazuha was released back in the Genshin 1.6 patch, during the original Golden Apple Archipelago event. His gameplay revolves in creating Anemo reactions and buffing his teammates while also gathering enemies, and scales with Elemental Mastery.

But as he was similar to Venti and Sucrose, and also due to the approaching arrival of the Inazuma region, people simply skipped him. Sucrose in particular also has an Elemental Mastery scaling, making comparisons between them very common.

But a few weeks after his release, people started to realize his true potential. Whenever the Genshin community labels a character as trash or a 5-star version of another existing character, that character ends up being incredibly strong. The same happened with Ganyu back in 1.2, and also with Yelan in the most recent patch.

Kazuha is similar to Sucrose, but his gameplay has a different focus. Both are great additions to a team, but Kazuha has some extra advantages going for him.

Why Kazuha is so good?

His Elemental Skill Chihayaburu is a two-part attack, and has extra damage if it absorbs any element during the execution thanks to his first Ascension talent. It makes the perfect skill to create a quick reaction for any element.

And his Burst Kazuha Slash lasts for 8 seconds, giving him some off-field damage and absorbing any element it enters in contact with.  But the main reason he’s broken is because of his 2nd Ascension talent, Poetics of Fuubutsu.

Whenever Kazuha swirls, he grants his team extra damage for the swirled element, and multiple elements can be boosted this way. This means that even for multi-element compositions, such as the National Team, all of the participants will be buffed.

Elemental damage is one of the best ways to increase a character’s overall strength, and there are few ways to obtain it. The reason why Kazuha is good is that not only his buff is extremely rare, but he also has many more ways to help his team.

By simply being Anemo, he has access to 4-piece Viridescent Venerer artifact set, decreasing his enemies’ elemental resistance. Combining it with his relatively good personal damage and his incredible buff, he becomes even stronger.

Not only that. He was released alongside the Freedom Sworn sword, which boosts his EM even more (increasing his buff) and gives the whole team another Attack buff if he creates at least 2 reactions. Did I mention he creates a ton of them?

And if you couldn’t afford to get his signature weapon, don’t worry. Iron Stinger is a 100% F2P option that you can use on him and get some extra EM for that buff. He can also use Energy Recharge weapons, which is not recommended but viable if you don’t have any Sword billets.

Elemental Mastery items are usually left behind when building a character, but Kazuha can use them. EM pieces of Viridescent Venerer are desired in many characters, but you don’t need 5 pieces of the same set. You can use a good EM circlet from another set, for example.

Kazuha vs Sucrose

The main argument against Kazuha during his release was that he was just a “5-star Sucrose”. Well, 5-star Sucrose is already a huge thing, as she’s strong for many similar reasons. But her main focus is slightly different.

While Kazuha’s talents boosts his team’s elemental damage directly, Sucrose boosts her team’s reactions. She grants them Elemental Mastery instead of direct damage. This is great for combos with Mona’s Burst, for example, but not as useful for a DPS such as Ayaka who doesn’t necessarily rely on a damaging reaction.

Electro characters are also happy with Kazuha on their team, as Electro-related reactions don’t have a multiplicative scaling. Characters such as Keqing and Raiden get more damage from Kazuha than they would get from Sucrose, who’s more suited for Overload-focused teams.

This makes Kazuha more universal and simpler to use. If you just want to increase your overall elemental damage, pick him. If you’re playing a reaction-based team, such as a Childe + Xiangling comp, Sucrose might be a better call.

TLDR; Why is Kazuha so good?

He can simultaneously carry 4-piece VV set, has good personal damage, buffs his teammates’ elemental damage, is very F2P friendly and does not require insane stats or constellations to do his most important function. Also, his character theme and design are badass. That’s all that really matters, right?

Kazuha is an invaluable unit to have and can be called “time-proof”, as any character to be released who’s not physical-focused will be stronger with him in your team. Whenever he’s back, you should at least try to get him, as he’s really worth it.
