Genshin Impact: Who is Mika?

The many leaks regarding Sumeru dropped a shy name a few weeks ago. It refers to a new male short character, supposedly from Mondstadt.

But we never heard about him before, so who is Mika? Here, we’ll talk about this new upcoming character, whose debut will happen during 3.1, where the main event should be hosted in the game’s first region.

Like many of the existing Mondstadt, this new, previously unknown character is also a member of the Knight of Favonius and was absent from the city due to being part of Varka’s expedition. And since he’s a cartographer, he may be the one who finally gives us info on how the expedition is doing.

Who is Mika, a future character in Genshin Impact?

The first information on the character was given by SaveYourPrimos alt account, normally used for newer information with no images.

BLANK soon dropped the name Mika, and artists started to draw him according to the description. This has been a common trend among unrevealed characters, and most of these arts are really close to the original, according to the leakers.

Although his debut is set to be made in 3.1, he’ll not be playable at this point. Like Rosaria, who first appeared in Albedo’s quest in 1.2 but was only made playable in 1.4, it should take a while for him to receive a kit and a possible release date.

Now that we know who Mika is, what else do we know about him? Sadly, not much. Given that his kit has not been revealed yet, all we got from him to this moment were small crumbles of information. His situation is much like Heizou’s before the current patch when a character is barely mentioned elsewhere before his full official release.

His element was again claimed to be Cryo by Hxh_Diluc, another reliable leaker. No information on his weapon yet, but as he also reveals that Mika is physically strong despite his fragile looks, it opens up for another Cryo Greatsword character.

As previously mentioned, he’ll be present during the 3.1 festival event as, according to Ubatcha, it brings many Mondstaters back home (as a side note, we may even see Thoma making an appearance). He also confirms that Mika has previously worked with Eula before departing. This explains their similarities, as they belong to the same division

In the same fashion, we don’t know about his rarity yet. His role seems to be similar to something like Amber in the Knights, so many are guessing on him being 4 stars instead of 5. Lore is irrelevant for characters’ rarity (Ningguang being 4 stars and Yoimiya 5 being an example), but it could be different here.

When is Mika becoming playable?

He’ll first appear as a model-only character, and it may take a while until he’s actually released. Remember that we’re going into the Sumeru expansion, and Hoyoverse will probably focus on releasing new characters from that specific region before expanding the cast on previous ones.

For comparison, the first non-Inazuma characters after 2.0 were Yun Jin and Shenhe, both released in the 2.4 version. As most leaks have only pointed out for characters that come directly from Sumeru (with the exception of Scaramouche, but he’s possibly involved in the Archon Quests), we can expect Mika to be released after the 3.4 version.

This is all speculative and subjective to change, but most leaks have been turning out to be very much correct at the end of the day, so this summary of who Mika is should probably be right. For now, our best bet is to wait for 3.1 to come.
