Genshin Impact: Who is Dottore?

Genshin Impact Dottore

Il Dottore is one of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers who was mentioned but is still yet to make an appearance in the action role-playing game Genshin Impact. You should have already heard about him if you finished Act 1 of Tartaglia‘s story quest called Mighty Cyclops’ Adventure!

In the story quest, you get to help Tartaglia take his younger brother, Teucer, to see the supposed “Institute of Toy Research.” This facility, however, isn’t a toy factory as Tartaglia made his brother believe. Instead, it is one of Dottore‘s abandoned research facilities in Liyue, where he had experimented with Ruin Guards. To the young and naive Teucer, the facility is a toy factory and the Ruin Guards are not a threat at all. He even calls them “Mr. Cyclops” toys, which is something Tartaglia wished for his younger brother to continue believing at least for now.

While Dottore was mentioned in the game and appeared in the new Genshin Impact teaser, not much is known about him unless you also read the manga. Set some time before you began your journey as the Traveler, the manga shows us how “mad” of a “doctor” Dottore is. In this article, we will summarize what we know about him.

What we know about Dottore so far

As one of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers, Dottore has an alias, and that is “The Doctor.” However, his rank as a Harbinger hasn’t been officially revealed yet.

Long before Dottore joined the Fatui, he was one peculiar man who loved to do research and experiments in the hopes of creating “enhanced humans” strong enough to surpass even the gods. However, he had and still has little to no regard for human life, and his ways were inhumane that you could say he’s a mad doctor in the making! Because of this, people back in his hometown chased him away.

While his ways were practically “illegal,” it could not be argued that Dottore had talent. This talent was his ticket to be accepted into Sumeru Academia. As expected, everyone considered him a madman. However, he did his best not to get expelled as he could not think of a better place where he could do his research and experiments.

It was during this time that Pierro, the 1st of the Fatui Harbingers, invited Dottore to join the Fatui. With promises of resources for his research, Dottore grabbed the opportunity, joined the Fatui, and has since been called Il Dottore or “The Doctor.”

At some point, Dottore slayed Ursa the Drake, a monster that had long plagued Mondstadt. The region was indebted to him for this reason, making his operations in Mondstadt as smooth as he had wanted. With this privilege, he and his men recruited vulnerable people from the region and cruelly experimented on them.

However, most experiments would turn into a failure, and The Doctor would say “pathetic as usual.” One day, he threatened his adjutant Krupp to become the next test subject. Knowing his senior’s disregard for human life, Krupp tried his best to avoid being experimented on by suggesting that they hire more people from Mondstadt.

While in Mondstadt, the “Darknight Hero” (Diluc‘s secret identity) managed to trap Krupp and tried to force the latter to spill the Fatui‘s plans. However, before he could provide confidential information, Dottore showed up and killed Krupp without hesitation. And, as he had initially threatened, The Doctor did an experiment on Krupp‘s corpse and turned him into a Ruin Guard-like monster.

For Dottore, lives do not matter even if it’s the lives of his subordinates. During the Black Fire incident instigated by Collei, a young woman who had also been cruelly experimented on by his group, two (2) Fatui diplomats died. Needless to say, their deaths did not interest him at all.

While you’re here, you might also want to learn more about other Fatui Harbingers such as Rosalyne or La Signora, Columbina, and Arlecchino.
