Genshin Impact: What we know about Nilou so far

A new image featuring characters from Sumeru was shared by @genshinmains on Twitter. While fans have already seen the models of most of these supposed new characters, even newer faces were spotted.

From left to right, the image shows seven characters including Tighnari, Collei, Dehya, Al-Haitham, Nilou, Dori, and Kusanali. With this leak, fans were finally able to see Nilou‘s supposed design, hyping up the future arrival of the new Hydro character.

Most characters featured in the image have detailed leaks, but Nilou is one of the characters that we don’t really know much about. That’s why we are going to discuss what we know about her so far.

Who is Nilou?

Nilou is an upcoming character in Genshin Impact. She is from the region called Sumeru, which is expected to be released in Version 3.0. Not much is known about her lore, but leaks on Reddit say that she is a dancer. While this hasn’t been confirmed yet, her character design somehow supports this claim.

It is also interesting to note that she has horns, which are somehow similar to that of the weekly boss, Azhdaha.

What is Nilou’s Vision and what are her abilities?

According to leaks, Nilou is a Hydro character. She was previously reported to be a healer, but @SpendYourPrimos retracted the claim, saying:

[CORRECTION] We claimed earlier that Nilou (Hydro) was a dancer and a healer. We were wrong about the healer part. Healing is not her primary role, if she even heals at all. Nilou’s kit revolves specifically around the Dendro + Hydro reaction. Further details pending. – IT

If you don’t already know, leaks suggest that the Elemental Reaction triggered by combining Hydro and Dendro is called Overgrown. It will reportedly cause seeds to spawn on the battlefield. These seeds will then bloom into mushrooms and deal AoE Dendro damage which could mean that Nilou is a DPS character.

Moreover, the name Nilou, as tweeted by reliable leaker @Ubatcha1, means “water lily” or “lotus.” This further supports the claim that she is going to be a Hydro character who works well with the new playable element.

What weapon will Nilou use?

As for her weapon, @SaveYourPrimos says that Nilou is going to be a Sword user.

When will Nilou be released?

Nilou is said to be released sometime in the later versions of Genshin Impact 3.0, possibly in 3.1 or 3.2. Leaks also say that she’s a 5-star character which means that she will be having her own banner.
