Genshin Impact: Version 2.8 release date, banners, and events

With Version 2.7 having been recently released after a historical delay in Genshin Impact, HoYoverse is now back on track and will continue with its usual six-week cycle of version updates. This means that we can expect Version 2.8 next month!

In fact, as early as last month, the studio already announced the release date of 2.8, which is a little earlier than when they usually do.

When will Version 2.8 be available?

It can be recalled that Version 2.8’s release date was announced along with the announcement about the delayed end of Version 2.6 and the beginning of Version 2.7.

In the announcement, the official Twitter account of Genshin Impact said:

V2.7 Update Notice

As the announcement said, Version 2.8 is expected to be on July 13, 2022. And while this may still be subject to change, this shows that the updates are scheduled back to how they used to be.

What banners will be in Version 2.8?

HoYoverse has previously announced a new character named Shikanoin Heizou, and according to trusted leaker @lumie_lumie, he will be available in Version 2.8.

As Heizou is rumored to be a 4-star character, we are not sure yet which banner he will be on. However, it was also reported by another trusted leaker @Ubatcha1 last March that Kazuha might have a rerun soon, and we can only hope that it’s going to be in Version 2.8.

Are there any announced upcoming events?

Currently, there are no confirmed events yet for Version 2.8. However, there are some rumors about this. According to leaker @Genshin_Intel, the main event of Version 2.8 is called “A Summer Sea Sojourn” which will allow players to get Fischl using the event currency.
