A recent tweet from UBatcha, a known Genshin Impact spoiler and leak source, gave Travelers a glimpse of the trading card game that will soon be released in the game. Speculations have circulated on various social media platforms, some believe it would be included in the Genshin Impact 3.1, 3.2, or 3.3 updates.

Despite the rumors spreading wild, miHoYo continues to stay mum on all their social accounts. Version 3.1 will be released on September 28, Version 3.2 on November 2, and Version 3.3 on December 12. This means that we may have to wait until December to confirm this rumor.

Trading card game rumors and how it started

Since the release of the update that included Sumeru, the rumors of the TCG has floated around the internet. If you have been this far in the game, you would also know that the Traveler would also have an interaction with a Genius Invokation TCG Limited Edition Gift Box in-game.

“This is a lovely Genius Invokation TCG gift box. It is said to have been a limited edition release, and that anyone who possesses this set of cards will be a god amongst children.”

In the quest, The Almighty Arataki Great and Glorious Drumalong Festival, the Traveler also gets to be part of a dialogue that also mentioned the trading card game. Part of your conversation with Kamisato Ayato will mention that he has been playing the trading card game with Arataki Itto. He even compliments Itto; despite him losing all the time, he never gives up.

TCG gameplay mechanics

Disclaimer: The information below is taken from a collection of rumors regarding the supposed TCG in Genshin Impact.

There will be 10 levels in the minigame. Once the player reaches Level 2, the Traveler will unlock the online matchmaking system. This opens the possibility of online player-versus-player for the TCG. Through PvP match-ups, the player gains experience, which will increase the level of the player. Each gained level grants the player a certain amount of decks you have for your cards. Imagine the loadouts in Pokémon or Yu-gi-oh.

The player chooses the initial character that will be placed in the field. Each turn, players will roll eight dice which will also decide the elemental skills their characters will use. Switching characters will also cost you a turn. This seems to take inspiration from many classic TCGs and the turn-based system of Pokémon.

TCG playable character and exclusives

Still basing it on collected leaks from various social media platforms, “there will be 220 cards and of those, there are 25 character cards from the current playable character pool”. There will also be characters that have skills that cause positive and negative status effects. The statuses can even be transferred from one character to another, should the player decide to switch characters.

Another interesting addition to the rumor is the Artifact weapons, gears, and other sets that can be equipped by characters in the TCG. Once these are used in the TCG, they are meant to enhance the character’s attack and defensive stats.

Lastly, there are also speculations about the golden character cards. These would likely be rare cards with special skills and stats that drastically increase the odds of the game to the player’s favor. With the involvement of rarity and exclusivity, this may involve going through every nook and cranny of the map to get them. It might even include the use of precious Primogems.

Genshin Impact is available now on PC, PS4, PS5 iOS, and Android.
