The new Genshin Impact teaser called “Teyvat Chapter Interlude Teaser: A Winter Night’s Lazzo” is quite a surprise. Finally, HoYoverse has decided to reveal all of the Fatui Harbingers who have remained a mystery until now. And that’s unexpectedly all in one video!

While there are supposedly eleven (11) of them, only nine (9) live Fatui Harbingers were seen in the teaser. This is because one of them has already fallen. In fact, the gathering in the teaser was made possible for the funeral of Rosalyne, also known as La Signora, the 8th Fatui Harbinger with the alias “The Fair Lady.” On the other hand, Scaramouche, the 6th Harbinger, had already gone missing after obtaining the Gnosis of the Inazuman Archon Ei in Chapter II.

La Signora made her first in-game appearance when the Traveler and the rest of the party in Mondstadt restored Dvalin at the end of Act III of the Prologue. In this scene, she ambushed the Traveler and the Anemo Archon Barbatos, who was in the form of Venti, and took the latter’s Gnosis from him.

She also appeared at the end of Chapter I in Liyue where she obtained the Geo Archon’s Gnosis from Zhongli as per their agreement.

Lastly, at the end of Chapter II in Inazuma, the Traveler challenged her to a duel before the Raiden Shogun’s throne. La Signora lost and, as per the rules of the duel, was formally executed by the Raiden Shogun.

But before becoming a Fatui Harbinger and ultimately facing her death, who was La Signora? Who was Rosalyne?

What we know about Rosalyne’s past

About five hundred years before the Traveler went on an adventure in Teyvat, Rosalyne-Kruzchka Lohefalter was just an ordinary young woman in Mondstadt who loved to sing. As a young maiden filled with hopes and dreams, she fell in mutual love with a knight named Rostam from the Knights of Favonius. Rosalyne also had academic potential, and because of this, she was accepted as a scholar in the prestigious Sumeru Academia.

Following this acceptance into the Academia, Rosalyne left Mondstadt for her studies and waited for the day she would see her lover again. However, the odds were not in her favor as the Cataclysm broke while they were apart. When she was finally able to return to Mondstadt, she learned something that would change her life forever. With grief in her eyes, she found out that Rostam had already died battling monsters during the catastrophe.

Rosalyne’s heart shattered. She was filled with both grief and hatred that she, as people said, decided to leave her mortal body. With an art now lost to history, she transformed herself into a living flame, burning her face and skin in the process. She then set monsters and demons ablaze as if on a rampage. But while that was the case, people feared her, and she was even called the Crimson Witch of Flame.

Without anyone to turn to, it was during Rosalyne’s heart-stricken rampage when Pierro, the 1st Fatui Harbinger, discovered her. To help her suppress her raging flames, Pierro gave her a Cryo Delusion and welcomed her to the Fatui. The Cryo Delusion did calm her flames down and presumably also helped her forget the pains of her past. However, this was a route that would lead her to an even more tragic end.

Knowing her past, do you think Rosalyne deserves better? There are fans who would have wanted La Signora to become a playable character. While it looks like this is not happening at all, there is nothing wrong with wishful thinking.
