Genshin Impact: Talent level-up materials guide

Commonly called Talent Books, Talent Level-Up Materials are the items you oftentimes get that look like books or scrolls. As their name suggests, they are used along with Common Ascension Materials to level up a Character’s talents. 

Like other items in the game, these also have a rarity ranking. 

If you don’t have higher rarity talent books, you only need to craft them using Alchemy. By combining lower rarity materials of the same type, you come up with higher rarity materials. 

For instance, 3 Teachings of Freedom are combined to create 1 Guide to Freedom. 

To know which materials are required for your characters’ talents, you simply have to check each of the characters’ pages. You may also check each materials page to see which characters require that material for leveling talents. 

It is important to note that in order to begin leveling up talents using talent books, your character must be at Ascension Phase 2 which requires Adventure Rank 25.

These items can be obtained by completing Forsaken Rift, the Domain of Mastery in Mondstadt.

Boss Drops and Who Can Use Them

Aside from books/scrolls, there are also boss drops that are used for leveling up talents to Level 7 and up.

Limited-duration Event Materials 

Crown of Insight is a material that can only be obtained by limited-duration event rewards. This is used for leveling up talents to Level 10.

Crafting Talents 

It’s important to note that there are characters with Utility Passive related to crafting materials. You might consider using them while doing so. 

These are the following: 

  1. Eula’s Aristocratic Introspection – When Eula crafts Character Talent Materials, she has a 10% chance to receive double the product. 
  1. Xingqiu’s Flash of Genius – When Xingqiu crafts Character Talent Materials, he has a 25% chance to refund a portion of the crafting materials used. 
  1. Yae Miko’s Meditations of a Yako – Has a 25% chance to get 1 regional Character Talent Material (base material excluded) when crafting. The rarity is that of the base material.
