Genshin Impact: New Sumeru information and leaks

Last Updated on: 26th June 2022, 07:57 pm

While Genshin Impact had a rough time with no updates for a while, the game’s next big expansion is close to be revealed, and new information regarding Sumeru has been revealed. While most of it is questionable, Ubatcha is one of the most reliable leakers, so we can give him some credit.

His new information is about the 3.0 update, currently scheduled to be released right after 2.8, which will go live in about 1 month. They include info on upcoming characters, artifacts, lore and, of course, the new Dendro element reactions.

New information on the Sumeru update

Ubatcha decided to correct some of his older tweets. This does not mean that his previous information was false, but it was imprecise in some points. The first one is about an already known character which will be released in Sumeru: Cyno.

Cyno appears in the Teyvat Chapter trailer and also in the Genshin manga. We could already guess his weapon of choice, but his element was never clear. Previously, Ubatcha said that he would be Hydro, but that’s incorrect.

The confusion happened because there’s another 5-star character in the making, even after Yelan’s release. This seems to be Nilou, who has been mentioned by Project Celestia previously.

While she does have some information in the Beta server, no release date can be given, as apparently, she’s not coming in Sumeru’s release. This honor will be served to Tighnari, who seems to be a 5-star Bow user featured in one of the banners.

Collei, who’s also from the manga and it’s referenced in some points in the game, will also be playable as a 4-star character, coming right at the beginning of the update. The other 5-star Dendro character who’s been mentioned seems to be simply the Traveler.

For system updates, we’ll finally get the Dendro element and its long-awaited reactions. Previous leaks have stated that those reactions will mainly focus on AoE damage and boosting Dendro and Electro damage, and it seems that they will stay this way, being another way Hoyoverse has decided to buff Electro.

But there’s also support being given to Dendro itself, as two new artifacts will be arriving in the update. And one of them is supposedly giving Critical Damage as its bonus.

The effect still seems unclear, and we should learn more about those new sets in the future. Even if this new Critical set does have those drawbacks, it would probably still be worth having that extra Damage for free.

And finally, we’ll also get some new information for lore, and while it’s not for Sumeru itself, it’s still very interesting.

Baizhu’s snake, Changsheng, will receive part of the spotlight, meaning that after Dendro is released, we might finally see him become playable. Sorry, Yaoyao fans, no news for you yet.

But Varka, the Knight of Favonius’s official Grand Master, will receive more exposure after years of teasing. He’s not becoming playable right away, but at least we’ll know more about him.

Scaramouche fans will also have a reason to be happy, as the Harbingers will be more present in the Sumeru patches than they were during Inazuma, and the tweets imply that there’s a real chance that he’ll become playable soon.

For the other Harbinger, it could be Dottore, who also made an appearance in the manga. Other rumors have also pointed out Capitano, and the recent quests have mentioned Pantalone, who could also make an appearance.

Most of this information could be pure speculation, but there are some strong reasons to believe at least some of them. Sumeru’s promotion and drip marketing should begin before 2.8 releases, and we’ll keep an eye on anything else that appears until then.
